On Their Way: 33 Student Athletes Announce Transfer Plans

West Windsor, N.J. -- Congratulations to 33 MCCC student athletes who have announced their plans for fall and mid-year transfer to four-year schools.

A total of 124 students competed on MCCC's nine athletic teams.They leave Mercer having contributed to another solid year in sports. Highlights include a Region 19 championship for men's soccer and four teams that were Region 19 runners up: women's soccer, men's basketball, women's cross country and softball. The baseball team won the Garden State Athletic Conference title. The women's tennis team went to nationals, where the Vikings finished 7th out of 13 teams. The women's cross country team also qualified for nationals.

Thirty-one students were named to the All-Garden State Athletic Conference Academic Team and 21 were named to the All-Region 19 Academic Team. Baseball player Matt Rodriguez received NJCAA Superior Honors for earning a GPA between 3.80-3.99. Women’s cross country runner Sierra Downs and men’s basketball player Armando Davis received Exemplary Honors for earning a GPA between 3.60-3.79. (Downs was an Academic All-American for two consecutive years). Downs and teammate Simone Cioccari were named Academic All-Americans by the NJCAA Cross Country Coaches' Association.
