MCCC Professor Bob Pugh Is Repeat Champ
In USTA Tennis Tournament

West Windsor, N.J. - MCCC Physical Education Professor Bob Pugh is the repeat champion in the men's 65+ division of the U.S. Tennis Association's G. Nelson Green Memorial Tennis Tournament Indoor Sectional Championships. The tournament was held April 12-15 at the Mercer County indoor facility located at Mercer County Park.

According to tournament director Mike Ehrenberg, players from the Middle States as far away as Harrisburg, Pa., competed. Pugh faced a player from Ithaca, NY, who is ranked in the Top 30 nationally, beating him 3-6; 6-3; 6-1.

Also notable was the performance of Ralph Bencivengo, the college's assistant coach for men's and women's tennis, who won the men's 70+ division 6-1; 6-0. Ralph defeated three seeded players to win his first title, defeating the # 32 ranked player in the county in the semi-finals.

In the 75+ division, Marty Devlin was the winner. Devlin worked for many years in MCCC's Tennis Camp for children and teens.
