Mercer Men's Soccer Team Prepares for Nationals

After cruising to victory in the Region 19 tournament, the Mercer Men's Soccer Team went on to dominate the Northeast District, easily winning the District Tournament to advance to the NJCAA National Championship. On Nov. 6, the Vikings defeated the CC of Rhode Island 5-1 in the semi-final round. Goals came from Kevin Bailey (2), Maio Kpaxhiu (2), and Travis McKoy. On Nov. 7 they defeated Monroe CC (NY) 4-0. McKoy recorded a hat trick and Felipe Faundez added another goal for the decisive win.

Head Coach Charlie Inverso was named Coach of the Year for Region 19.

The Vikings are now preparing for the nationals, which take place in Tyler, TX, from Nov. 18-21. Mercer played in the title game the past two seasons, losing both times in close contests against Yavapei CC (AZ).
