MCCC Annual Golf Classic Is Successful
Day for Golfers and Students

10/20//09

West Windsor, N.J. - Student athletes came up the big winners at the MCCC Golf Classic on Oct. 6 at Mercer Oaks Golf Course. Seventy-eight golfers and additional corporate and individual donors helped to raise approximately $10,000, which will be donated to the Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund.

Magnificent weather set the tone for a great day. Twelve student athletes came out to assist on the 18-hole championship course, located on a beautifully landscaped site adjacent to Mercer County Park.

The round of golf was followed by a banquet dinner, which included a silent auction of donated sports and other valuable items and the presentation of awards by MCCC Athletics Director John Simone. Foundation Chair E. Karen Kennedy expressed her gratitude to those who have made MCCC a priority -- both the dedicated members of the Golf Committee and the many participants.

The winning foursomes included: Dan Madden, Brad Strauss, Joe Coscia and Bill Narleski from Honeywell, which also served as a Target sponsor. Tied for first place were: Bob Klee of Clayton Block Company, and guests Bob Iamello, Mike Millemann, and Allen Neylon.

This year's Golf Committee included: Foundation Board members David Fraytak, of Faridy, Veisz, Fraytak Architects, Thomas Kull, Timothy Losch of The Bank, Scott Needham of Princeton Air Conditioning, Inc., Steven Ritzau, Doug Borden of Borden Perlman Insurance Company, and Michele Siekerka, Esq., president and CEO of the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce. The tournament is held in memory of Ritzau's wife, Dr. Cynthia Schaffer, an MCCC Foundation Board member and area physician. Schaffer strongly supported Mercer's mission and was an ardent sports enthusiast, especially in golf and youth tennis.
