5/31/07

The MCCC softball team, which set a school record with 38 wins this season en route to the NJCAA Division II World Series, can now lay claim to two All-Americans as pitcher/infielder Jackie Sasko and outfielder Ashley Williams have been named to the NJCAA Division II second team.

Sasko, a sophomore pitcher/infielder from Steinert High School, was 19-3 with a 0.94 ERA. A third baseman when she was not pitching, Sasko led the team in hitting with a .475 average and in runs batted in with 45. She plans on continuing her athletic and academic careers at a four year school.

Williams, a sophomore outfielder from Hamilton West, is a two time All-American, having been named to the first team last year. She hit .441 this year with a team high 25 stolen bases.
Mercer finished the season with a record of 38-8 and reached the World Series for the first time since 1988.
