High School Horticulture Expo Today Through Saturday
Mercer is ready to usher in spring! Now in its fourth year at MCCC, the Horticulture program and the New Jersey Department of Agriculture have teamed up to host the New Jersey High School Horticulture Expo. The public is invited to visit this free show. Suggested viewing hours are today until 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Exhibits are displayed on the 2nd floor skywalk, surrounding the West Windsor Campus quad. "First Book" Volunteers Needed March 19-21
Mercer is inviting volunteers to join the Trenton Campus in Kerney Hall on Thursday and Friday (and Saturday) to help recipient agencies move their books and load their vehicles. This is a great way to volunteer for Mercer while helping our partner agencies open the minds of young readers to the joys of reading and learning. Please contact Monique Richardson (ext. 3160) by email or phone if you would like to help!

WPU@Mercer Open House April 1
Mercer students can explore how they can earn their bachelor's degree from William Paterson University without leaving the West Windsor Campus through the WPU@Mercer program on Wednesday, April 1, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Conferernce Center. Majors offered in Early Childhood Education, Liberal Arts, and Psychology. RSVP to mercer@wpunj.edu.

Women's History Month Celebration Concludes March 25
The celebration of Women's History Month concludes next week. On Wednesday, March 25, the Trenton Campus will host a discussion entitled "Balancing Career and Family" from noon to 1 p.m. in Kerney Hall (KC229).

"Explore Mercer" Open House April 16
It’s almost Spring – which means it’s almost time for “Explore Mercer,” MCCC’s annual Spring Open House. This year the event will be held on Thursday, April 16, starting at 6 p.m. in the Student Center on the West Windsor Campus. This is a great opportunity for you to show off your program to prospective students and their parents.  Program coordinators and program chairs are asked to complete the participation form here and submit it to Savita Bambhrolia via email at bambhros@mccc.edu or by interoffice mail to SC251. Please return the form by Friday, March 27 to allow adequate time for set-up.

MCCC Exhibit Wins Bronze Medal at Philly Flower Show
Congratulations to MCCC Horticulture Professor Amy Ricco and all the students, faculty, staff, and volunteers for their award-winning exhibit at the Philadelphia Flower Show. Inspired by Disney's "Fantasia," the exhibit received a bronze medal in the education category from the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society. See the Facebook photos from the show here.

It's a Homecoming for Frank Riveraís Exhibit Opening
It was something of a homecoming for artist Frank Rivera during the opening of his show at The Gallery at Mercer on March 11. Dozens of former colleagues, students and community members crowded in to view works from the acclaimed artistís 70-year career. The show runs through April 2. Read more here.

A Special "Pi Day" at MCCC
Did you know March 14 is "Pi Day"? It is also a very special Pi Day -- Albert Einstein's birthday -- as this is a once in 100 year phenomenon, being that Saturday will be 31415, or pi to four decimal places! Or if you really want to geek out, 9:26 a.m. and 53 seconds takes you out to NINE places! The MCCC Physics Club and Prof. Jing Huang got into the spirit this week, with numerous pi-appropriate activities in the Student Center. See the Facebook photo album here.

Horticulture Expo Photos on Facebook
Hundreds of high school students from more than two dozen high schools are on the MCCC West Windsor Campus this weekend, competing in the annual New Jersey High School Horticulture Expo. Sponsored by the MCCC Horticulture program and the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, suggested viewing times are through 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Through March 22: Bookstore Clearance Sale. The Book Store has announced a clearance sale through March 22 featuring MCCC sweatshirts, tee shirts, and puffer jackets, as well as supplies, ladies purses and lots more. Discounts are 30 percent off already marked down prices.

March 25: Philosophy Club Series.The Philosophy S.P.A. Club, with advisor Ken Howarth, will host its second of eight discussions this spring as part of the club's Civil Discourse Series. "How Human is Human Enough for Personhood?" will take place Wednesday, March 25 from noon to 1 p.m. in LA108. See the full schedule here.

March 31: Job Fair. Due to winter weather conditions on March 5, the annual Job Fair has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 31 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Center. Various employers will be on hand talk to students about opportunities with their companies. Attendees are asked to bring a resume and dress in business attire. Through April 1: Student Scholarship Applications. The Office for College Advancement is accepting scholarship applications from students through the M-Scholarship online system. The deadline for graduating students is April 1; the deadline for continuing students is Sept. 15. Please encourage students to apply for scholarship support. The scholarship portal can be found on MCCC’s main page and at www.mccc.edu/scholarships. You may view a list of available scholarships organized by area of study at http://www.mccc.edu/pdf/scholarships_by-area-of-study.pdf. Please note that you may be asked to furnish letters of recommendation as students complete their applications. April 2: IPIC 'Engaging Learners' Proposals Due. The IPIC's "Engaging Learners in the 21st Century Conference" has moved to Tuesday, August 25 (during pre-class week). The Call for Proposals is now open. Click here. The due date for all submissions is April 2. Registration for the conference will open in May. Questions? Contact Theresa Capra at caprat@mccc.edu.

April 14: 'Spring Into Student Success' Scholarship Fundraiser. The MCCC Foundation’s premier event to raise funds for student scholarships will be held on Tuesday, April 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mercer Oaks. Tickets are on sale and silent auction items are being accepted now. Read more here.

Through April 23: Penny Wars. Student clubs will lead the charge, with the collection to be held through April 23. College departments may also participate, as well as individual students and staff members. Anyone wishing to make a donation may contribute to a participating group, or drop off their pennies in SC111.  (Note: If you are low on pennies, larger denominations will be accepted!) Prizes will be awarded in each category for those who collect the most pennies.  Collection containers are available in SC111 on or after March 12.  For more information, email Jeannette Clugsten at clugstej@mccc.edu or call ext. 3677.

April 25: IPIC Adjunct Workshop. The IPIC will host a special professional development event for adjunct faculty. Please join us on Saturday, April 25 for a morning filled with networking and workshop sampling. See the flyer here for details and to RSVP.

Through May 6: MercerOnline Training. MercerOnline continues to offer multiple training sessions for online teaching. "MO 103 - Blackboard Grade Center Training" will be offered April 16 and May 6; "Introduction to Blackboard," April 13; "Introduction to Google Drive," April 22; "Introduction to Video Everywhere," March 25; and "Advanced Blackboard" March 25, April 1, and April 8. Through May 7: Student Restaurant Serving Lunch, Dinner. Tickets are now available for the HRIM "Applied Kitchen Skills" student restaurant. Lunch will be served weekly through Thursday, May 7 in ES111 (except March 19 during Spring Break). Seatings are from 11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.  Tickets are $8 for students, $10 for faculty and staff, and $12 for outside guests and can be purchased in the Bursar's Office (SC256) on the West Windsor campus. In addition, tickets are on sale for the HRIM "International" restaurant class. Dinner will be served on Wednesdays, March 25, April 8, 15, 22, 29, and May 6, with seatings from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m.  Tickets are $8 for students, $10 for faculty and staff, and $12 for outside guests. Tickets may be purchased from the Bursar's Office window at SC256 in the Student Center.  The menu will be posted soon. Questions? Email benowitf@mccc.edu.

Through May 8: Spring Late Night Series. One and all are invited to perform at MCCC’s Late Night Series, an open-mic event hosted by the Drama Club and MC Post Midnight. (Most typical are performances in dance, music, acting, film-making and poetry.)  Shows take place in the college’s Studio Theatre, located on the West Windsor Campus next to Kelsey Theatre).  Remaining dates this spring are March 27; April 10 and 24; and May 8.  Showtime is 10 p.m.   Doors open at 9:30; sign-up for the open-mic is 9:45 p.m.  For more information, email Jody Gazenbeek-Person at gazenbej@mccc.edu
