Rutgers Transfer Workshop Sept. 24
Transfer and Career Services will host a Transfer to Rutgers University Workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 24, noon to 12:45 p.m. in CM110. A representative from Rutgers will be available to answer students' questions about transfer opportunities. Students who are interested in UMDNJ should also attend, as UMDNJ is now Rutgers School of Biomedical and Health Science. To learn more about this workshop, visit SC201 or e-mail thomasl@mccc.edu.

Kathi Paluscio to Share Public Speaking Tips Sept. 25
Kathi Paluscio, associate professor of Communication, presents "Secrets to Reducing Nervousness in Public Speaking" as part of MCCC’s Distinguished Lecture Series on Wednesday, Sept. 25, from noon to 1 p.m. The lecture is free and open to the public and will be held in CM107. Read more here.

James Tolin Memorial Fund Presents "The Laramie Project" Oct. 6
Actors from the James Tolin Memorial Fund (JTMF) will present a staged reading of "The Laramie Project" at Kelsey Theatre on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m.  Presented as part of JTMF’s continuing Anti-Bullying/Anti-Suicide Campaign, this special event will benefit the Tyler Clementi Foundation. Read more here.

"Smart Solution" Video Series Debuts
MCCC has launched a series of testimonial videos, featured on the college home page, with students and faculty discussing why Mercer is "The Smart Solution." Sierra Downs is a May 2013 grad who is now studying for her bachelor's degree at Boston University. She reflects on her time at MCCC here.  English Professor Ed Carmien speaks about teaching writing in a second video here.   More videos will debut throughout the semester.

New Healthcare Courses at Center for Continuing Studies
The demand for healthcare professionals has resulted in the addition of new programs at MCCC's Center for Continuing Studies, including non-credit courses in Computed Tomography, Medical Billing and Coding, and the addition of a Certified Nurse Aide and Certified Home Health Aide programs at the Trenton campus. Macedonian Professors Share Perspectives With Students, Faculty
After a faculty exchange that took professors Laura Sosa and Doug Fee to Ohrid, Macedonia, last spring, two Macedonian professors completed a week of teaching and cultural activities at Mercer. Read more here.

Women's Tennis Team Posts Big Win
The women's tennis team is improving with every match, with a 9-0 win over Bergen CC on Sept. 18. The women participate in the Mercer Invitational Tennis Tournament this weekend, with 14 teams expected to compete. View Facebook photos here.

Through Nov. 20: Lunch at Student Restaurant. Culinary students will serve lunches this semester on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.  On Mondays, international cuisine is the theme (Sept. 16 to Oct. 28); on Tuesdays, American Regional is on the menu (Sept. 17 to Oct. 29); and on Wednesdays, the Food Prep II class presents favorite dishes (Oct. 23 to Nov. 20).  Seatings are from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.  Please allow 45 to 60 minutes for the full dining experience. Tickets are $8 for students and $10 for staff. Tickets may be purchased at the door, ES111, on a first-come, first-served basis. See the flyer here.

Through Dec. 12: Yoga and Zumba Classes. Yoga classes with Helen Tanzini are held every Wednesday through Dec. 11, from noon to 1 p.m. in the gym.  Classes with Tracy are held every Monday and Thursday from Sept. 9 to Dec. 12, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in PE225. Zumba with Colleen are held every Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. in the gym. Classes are open to all students, faculty and staff.

Oct. 1: MCCC Golf Classic, hosted by the Athletics Department and MCCC Foundation, at Mercer Oaks East. Proceeds benefit the MCCC Student Athlete Scholarship Fund. Read more here.
