Encourage Students to Attend Job Fair, March 31
The annual Job Fair will be held Tuesday, March 31 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Center. Various employers will be on hand to talk to students about opportunities with their companies. Attendees are asked to bring a resume and dress in business attire. For more information, contact the Career Services office at 609-570-3397 or thomasl@mccc.edu.

Philosophy Club Discussion April 1
The Philosophy S.P.A. Club, with advisor Ken Howarth, will host the third of eight discussions this spring as part of the club's Civil Discourse Series. "What We Owe Other Animals" will take place Wednesday, April 1, from noon to 1 p.m. in LA108. See the full schedule here.

WPU at Mercer Open House April 1
Mercer students can explore how they can earn their bachelor's degree from William Paterson University without leaving the West Windsor Campus. The event takes place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Center. Majors are offered in Early Childhood Education, Liberal Arts, and Psychology. RSVP to mercer@wpunj.edu.

Deadline for Graduating Student M-Scholarships is April 1
The Office for College Advancement is accepting scholarship applications from students through the M-Scholarship online system. The deadline for graduating students is April 1; the deadline for continuing students is Sept. 15. Please encourage students to apply for scholarship support. The scholarship portal can be found on MCCC’s main page and at www.mccc.edu/scholarships. You may view a list of available scholarships organized by area of study at http://www.mccc.edu/pdf/scholarships_by-area-of-study.pdf. Please note that you may be asked to furnish letters of recommendation as students complete their applications. IPIC 'Engaging Learners' Proposals Due April 2
IPIC's "Engaging Learners in the 21st Century Conference" will be held Tuesday, August 25 (during pre-class week). The Call for Proposals is open through April 2. Click here to submit your proposal. Mercer Distributes Thousands of 'First Books' to Community
MCCC turned a new page during Spring Break as volunteers rolled up their sleeves to participate in First Book, a national initiative that seeks to provide new high-quality books to schools and county organizations that serve preschoolers through 12th graders. Read more here.

MCCC to Honor Three at 'Spring Into Student Success' April 14
The Mercer Foundation Board will honor community partners Jim and Lynne Faridy, Allen and Judy Silk, and PNC Bank at “Spring Into Student Success!”, the college’s major benefit in support of student scholarships. The festive event is set for Tuesday, April 14 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mercer Oaks. Read more here.

Vikings Baseball Team Comes Out Swinging in Myrtle Beach
The weather may still be a bit of a spoiler in the Northeast, but in Myrtle Beach, SC, the Mercer baseball team finally got a chance to get their season under way. The team traveled south over Spring Break, playing 11 games over six days from March 13-18 and coming away with an 8-3 record. They are currently 15th in the National Junior College Athletic Association rankings. Read more here.

Reminders

April 14: 'Spring Into Student Success' Scholarship Fundraiser. The MCCC Foundation’s premier event to raise funds for student scholarships will be held on Tuesday, April 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mercer Oaks. Tickets are on sale and silent auction items are being accepted now. Read more here.

Through April 23: Penny Wars. Student clubs will lead the charge, with the collection to be held through April 23. College departments may also participate, as well as individual students and staff members. Anyone wishing to make a donation may contribute to a participating group, or drop off their pennies in SC111.  (Note: If you are low on pennies, larger denominations will be accepted!) Prizes will be awarded in each category for those who collect the most pennies.  Collection containers are available in SC111 on or after March 12.  For more information, email Jeannette Clugsten at clugstej@mccc.edu or call ext. 3677.

April 16: "Explore Mercer!" Open House. Help us spread the word to your neighbors, friends and any and all prospective students about the April 16 "Explore Mercer" open house. Read about it here.

April 25: IPIC Adjunct Workshop. IPIC will host a special professional development event for adjunct faculty on Saturday, April 25. The morning event will be filled with networking and workshop sampling. See the flyer here for details and to RSVP.

Through May 7: Student Restaurant Serving Lunch, Dinner. Tickets are available for the HRIM "Applied Kitchen Skills" student restaurant. Lunch is served weekly through Thursday, May 7 in ES111. Seatings are from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  View a sample lunch menu here. Tickets are $8 for students, $10 for faculty and staff, and $12 for outside guests and can be purchased in the Bursar's Office (SC256) on the West Windsor campus. In addition, tickets are on sale for the HRIM "International" restaurant class. Dinner will be served on Wednesdays, April 8, 15, 22, 29, and May 6, with seatings from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m.  Tickets are $8 for students, $10 for faculty and staff, and $12 for outside guests. Tickets may be purchased from the Bursar's Office window at SC256 in the Student Center.  See the menus here. Questions? Email benowitf@mccc.edu.

Through May 8: Spring Late Night Series. One and all are invited to perform at MCCC’s Late Night Series, an open-mic event hosted by the Drama Club and MC Post Midnight. (Performances typically include dance, music, acting, film-making and poetry.)  Shows take place in the college’s Studio Theatre, located on the West Windsor campus next to Kelsey Theatre).  Remaining dates this spring are tonight, March 27; April 10 and 24; and May 8.  Showtime is 10 p.m.  Doors open at 9:30; sign-up for the open-mic is 9:45 p.m.  For more information, email Jody Gazenbeek-Person at gazenbej@mccc.edu
