Gambling Addiction is Lecture Topic Nov. 19
"Understanding Gambling Addiction: A Growing Community Concern" will be the topic of a lecture by Donald Weinbaum, Executive Director of the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey, from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19 in CM110. Read more here.

Student Activities to Host Thanksgiving Program Nov. 19
The Student Activities Office is hosting a Thanksgiving Program with Sally Jones on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at noon in SC104 featuring a free Thanksgiving lunch and program. Contact Danielle Garruba to reserve your tickets at garrubad@mccc.edu or ext. 3412.

"Mercer County Photography" Reception Nov. 20
The imagery of 29 Mercer County photographers will be on display at the Gallery at Mercer in the exhibit, "My Mercer: Mercer County Photography 2013," which runs from Tuesday, Nov. 19 to Wednesday, Dec. 18. The community is invited to an Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony, to be held on Nov. 20 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Read more here.

Veterans Resume Writing Seminar Nov. 21
PNC Bank, MCCC Veterans Services, and MCCC Career and Transfer Services will sponsor a veterans resume writing seminar on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in SC104. PNC Bank representatives will be available to offer tips to help build a resume that will result in interviews, and that will translate military skills and experiences to the civilian workforce. Go Green Club "Give Back" Concert Nov. 21
The Go Green Club at Mercer is hosting a "Give Back" concert on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Kelsey Theatre to raise funds for clean water initiatives, the Lupus Foundation, future Go Green Club activities, and SAGE, a Trenton-based inner-city beautification organization. Tickets are $7 with Mercer ID, and $10 without. Those buying tickets at the door will receive a $1 discount for contributing items to a food drive. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Bursar's Office (SC256) or the Student Activities Office (SC211).

Students and Donors Honored at Scholarship Reception
Mercer celebrated its high-achieving students and generous donors at the Honors Recognition Reception for Continuing Students on Oct. 30, where administrators and donors presented 127 scholarships to assist students as they pursue their studies at Mercer. Read more here.

Puerto Rican Infantry Unit Honored in Veterans Day Ceremony

MCCC and dozens of community members honored the men of the 65th Infantry Regiment, a Puerto Rican regiment of the U.S. Army known as The Borinqueneers, at a Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 9 at the Trenton Campus.  PFC Ismael Rodriquez-Detres, an area resident who was a member of the Borinqueneers during the Korean War, was recognized for his service, with retired Lt. Col. Yvonne D. Johnson, U.S. Air Force-New Jersey National Guard, delivering the keynote address. Read the story in The Trentonian here.

Mercer Marketing Team Nets 16 Awards in District Competition
The Mercer Marketing and Communications team brought home 16 awards in the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations District 1 competition, including the prestigious Communicator of the Year Award for Marketing and Communications Director Lynn Holl. Read more here.

Mercer Cheer Dance Club Makes Their Debut
The Mercer Cheer Dance Club took to the hardwood Tuesday night in support of the men's basketball team, cheering them on to victory against Gloucester, 68-55. See Facebook photos here. The Vikings take on Harcum at home on Saturday at noon. Visit www.mccc.edu/athletics to see season schedules for men's and women's basketball.

Athletes in the Spotlight: Karizma Brown and Marissa Scott
In the NJCAA Division I National Championship Meet in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the Vikings got strong performances from two former Lawrence High School teammates, freshman Marissa Scott and sophomore Karizma Brown. Read more here.

Through Nov. 20: Student Restaurant Open for Lunch on Wednesdays
It's the last week for lunch in the MCCC Culinary Center (ES111). Students in Food Prep II will serve lunch for the last time this semester on Wednesday, Nov. 20. Seatings are from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meals are $10 for staff, $8 for MCCC students, and $12 for outside visitors. Tickets are available in the Bursar's Office, SC256.

Through Dec. 12: Yoga and Zumba Classes. Yoga classes with Helen Tanzini are held every Wednesday through Dec. 11, from noon to 1 p.m. in the gym.  Classes with Tracy are held every Monday and Thursday through Dec. 12, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in PE225. Zumba classes with Colleen are held every Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. in the gym. Classes are open to all students, faculty and staff.
