Library Resources Guide – LBGT Issues
Compiled by Angela Camack, 2015
Books and electronic books can be located by keyword, author, title or subject in the library's online catalog. You can refine your search by using the choices on the left side of the screen. Remember to limit your search to books in the MCCC libraries. Suggested search subject headings are:
- Gay parents
- Gay activists
- Gay adoption
- Gay rights
- Coming out
- Gender identity
- Sexual orientation
- Same-sex marriage
You can also search Ebsco e-books and ebrary from our web page for electronic books. As an MCCC student or employee, you can access e-books from off-campus if you have Internet access. See the library web page for instructions.
If we don't have a book you need, use the Interlibrary Loan form on the library webpage for instructions on how to get books from the Mercer County library system or other libraries.
Search our databases for articles in magazines and journals and other information. A complete list and links to these databases can be found at the library's Online Resources page. Databases that include material in this subject area include:
Academic Search Premier – scholarly, magazine and news articles.
ProQuest Central – scholarly, magazine and news articles.
GenderWatch – articles that focus on gender issues.
ProQuest Social Science Journals – from sociology, social work and psychology journals.
PsychArticles – articles from psychology journals.
Issues and Controversies & Pro Con – these databases do not provide articles, but provide discussions on such social and political issues, such as same-sex marriage, gay adoption and gays in the military.
Depending on your specific research needs, other databases may have useful information as well.
As an MCCC student or employee, you can access articles from the databases from off-campus if you have access to the Internet. See the library webpage for instructions.
