Nick Patanella ’03 (AS, General Business) ...is employed as security officer at Educational Testing Service in Princeton, N.J. "I get excited about coming to work everyday to help protect confidential material. Mercer has had a positive impact on my life," he said. "I learned a lot while there."
Brian Schoen ’92 (AA, Communication; AS, Criminal Justice) ...a police officer for Chesterfield Township, N.J., is currently a D.A.R.E. officer for the township’s schools. In this capacity, he speaks weekly to children about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse and peer pressure. Prior to becoming a police officer, he worked as a 9-11 communications operator/dispatcher and an emergency medical technician for Bordentown Township. Over the years, he has served as a volunteer firefighter for Chesterfield, a role he proudly continues to perform today.

Catherine Magnolo '75 (AA, Liberal Arts) ...enjoys working as a medical copy editor at Publicis Managed Markets in Lawrenceville, N.J. She is responsible for copyediting, proofing, and fact checking of various clinical and promotional materials for pharmaceutical companies. A film enthusiast, she plans to volunteer once again for the 2008 Trenton Film Festival.
Norris Kirk Taylor '80 (AAS, Liberal Arts) ...has taught students from kindergarten to second grade, as well as fifth grade math and reading, for the Chapter One Program at C.G. White Elementary School in Powellsville, N.C. for the past 21 years. For the past seven years, he has also taught science to seventh through twelfth grade at-risk students at Bertie Academic Alternate School in Windsor, N.C. After graduating from Mercer, Taylor earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Elizabeth City State University, a master's degree in middle school education from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C., and a second master's degree in educational leadership/administrative principal preparation from Cambridge College in Cambridge, Mass. While at Mercer, Taylor played power forward for men's basketball team.
Douglas A. McTighe '91 (AAS, Aviation Flight Technology) ...earned a bachelor's degree in 1994 at Ohio State University. He has since worked as a flight instructor and as a pilot for Bolton Flying Service, Allegheny Airlines, and Piedmont Airlines. He is currently a captain on USAirways Express' de Havilland Dash 8, mostly flying in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions.
Lisa Steinhilber '02 (AAS, Humanities) ...is program director at Bancroft NeuroHealth, an outpatient facility in Plainsboro which offers physical, occupational and speech therapy and vocational counseling, and serves as an inpatient brain injury residential program. She coordinates residential services and outpatient therapy for up to 15 individuals and oversees approximately 25 employees. Steinhilber plans to graduate with a bachelor's degree in psychology from Thomas Edison State College this spring and to pursue graduate studies in counseling.
Jeffrey Francis '04 (AS, Business Administration) ...is a journal marketing planner at Elsevier, Inc., one of the world's largest publishers of science and health information. Based in Philadelphia, Pa., he is responsible for the processing of all promotional mailings and assists marketing managers with various strategic projects.
Marie Giraldi '05 (AS, Nursing) ...is a registered nurse at St. Francis Medical Center and Mercer Street Friends. At St. Francis, she coordinates a grant for the Mercer County Office on Aging, ensuring that caregivers who are stressed can get relief if they qualify. At Mercer Street Friends, she works the in-take line, oversees the nursing staff schedule, and audits patients' charts.
