Mission
To broaden the global exposure of MCCC students and faculty to include international experiences that
engage students and faculty with the international community so that they are better prepared to be
successful while advancing the principles of globalization.
Limited scholarship money may be available.

Eligibility
- Students must be an enrolled Mercer County Community College student in good standing. This program is open to students who meet the necessary course requirements, have completed 12+ credits, and have a minimum 2.5+ GPA.
- Students must be 18 years or older unless accompanied by an adult student.
- Students will need to obtain a doctor's approval for international travel.
- Students must show proof of a valid passport. Non-U.S. citizens will need to verify any additional required documents with the U.S. Department of State.

Program Requirements
- Prior to departure, students must attend an orientation session, which provides an overview of the trip, what to expect, what to bring, preparation materials, study requirements and a question and answer period.
- Students are expected to attend all class meetings prior to and after the study tour and complete all course assignments.
- There will be limited space available for non-credit or audit students wishing to travel but not interested in the course work. Non-credit and audit students will be expected to attend a pre-travel orientation and a post-travel wrap-up session. Course work is optional for these students. Food lab sessions are reserved for credit students.
- This field trip is under the supervision of Mercer County Community College (MCCC) faculty. Students must comply with all rules and regulations of MCCC, particularly as described by the Student Code of Conduct in the Student Handbook. Students who do not comply with the Student Code of Conduct will be sent home at their own expense.
- Remedial and support services available on a campus cannot be provided during the study tour.
- HOS115 - Food and Culture (Gen. Ed. course) - Spring 2010
Students will apply a global perspective of the symbolic, social, political and economic role of food in the Italian culture. Lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on participation reveal how institutions and organizations influence food habits and beliefs. There will be lectures and food lab sessions on the campus of Mercer County Community College prior to traveling to Italy. Students will be expected to complete Food lab exercises, a final exam, a travel journal which includes a summary of experiences, and a final presentation. Students are expected to attend all classes prior to and after the study tour.
There will be limited space available for students wishing to travel but not interested in the course work. Non-credit students will be expected to attend a pre-travel orientation and a post-travel wrap-up session. Course work is optional for non-credit students; however food lab sessions are reserved only for credit students.

- ARC141 - Architecture and Culture: International - Spring 2010
Students will explore the history, culture, technology and quality of life as revealed and understood through the architecture and town planning in selected regions of Italy. There will be lectures on the campus of Mercer County Community College prior to traveling to Italy. Students will be expected to complete reading assignments, quizzes, a travel journal, a notebook, and a final presentation. Students are expected to attend all classes prior to and after the study tour.
There will be limited space available for students wishing to travel but not interested in the course work. Non-credit students will be expected to attend a pre-travel orientation and a post-travel wrap-up session. Course work is optional for non-credit students.

- BUS230 - Global Environment of Business (Gen. Ed. course) - Summer, A-session 2010
Students will learn about the challenges confronting a global business due to the socio-political, economic and cultural environments. They will have the unique opportunity to be immersed in the German culture as they visit various businesses and political/economic institutions throughout Germany and Switzerland. There will be lectures on the campus of Mercer County Community College prior to traveling to Germany. Students will be expected to complete homework assignments, 2 exams and a final presentation. Students are expected to attend all classes prior to and after the study tour.
There will be limited space available for students wishing to travel but not interested in the course work. Non-credit students will be expected to attend a pre-travel orientation and a post-travel wrap-up session. Course work is optional for non-credit students.

Program Costs -- Italy
- The travel cost: will be $3100 (based on a minimum of 18 students, double occupancy) not including cost of tuition. A $500 deposit is due by October 5, 2009. A $1,300 payment is due on December 11, 2009. A final payment of $1300 is due on February 12, 2010.
- Tuition: students will be enrolled in HOS115 or ARC141. Tuition for 3-credit courses is $357 for Mercer County Residents and $717 for Out of State residents.
- Penalty fees will be incurred due to student initiated cancellation not covered by insurance.
- Trip Includes:
Round trip airfare from Newark to Rome, 3 star hotel accommodations in Rome and Campania with a buffet breakfast daily, escorted excursions as per itinerary, airline tax, travel and luggage insurance, transportation by private coach for airport transfers and touring, except in Rome, where public transport is used. The expertise and perspective of 6 local guides during your tour, all Taxes, all Tips and Gratuities for the guide and driver, and comprehensive Travel Insurance that includes Health, Cancellation and Property are also included.
Rooming will be two to a room with occasional triple in cases of uneven number or gender. If the need for a triple arises, each person will still have an individual bed.
- This Does Not Include:
Lunches, dinners, beverages with meals, tips and gratuities for local guides and restaurants, Passport fee, Visas (if required for non-U.S. citizens), any fees that might be imposed by the airlines at the airport for checked baggage.

Program Costs -- Germany / Switzerland
- The travel cost: will be $3350 (based on a minimum of 18 students, double occupancy) not including cost of tuition. A $500 deposit is due by November 6, 2009. A $1,425 payment is due on January 8, 2010. A final payment of $1425 is due on February 26, 2010.
- Tuition: students will be enrolled in BUS230. Tuition for 3-credit courses is $357 for Mercer County Residents and $717 for Out of State residents.
- Penalty fees will be incurred due to student initiated cancellation not covered by insurance.
