Mercer County Community College offers several degree and certificate programs for people interested in working in information technology and in computer art and design.

Information Technology
Program Description
Computer Science Gain a solid background and prepare to transfer as a junior into a baccalaureate program in computer science, information systems or related fields.
Computer Systems and Networking Administration Prepare to work as a peripheral equipment operator, console operator, data communications technician, PC installer, data librarian, data controller, scheduler, network technician and other positions in business, industry, and government information centers and offices.
Database Adminstration (certificate) Learn to manage a data dictionary, data storage, data security and privacy, data integrity, backup and recover. Transform data for presentation, maintain data independence, and create complex structures that allow multi-users to access data via query language. Use DBMS communications functions to access the database through the Internet and design Visual Basic programs.
e-Commerce Learn to plan, design, develop, implement and maintain individual websites for electronic commerce. Learn to create a powerful and expandable e-business as an entreprenur and be ready to find employment as a web developer or web editor.
Microcomputer Systems Administration

Microcomputer Applications (certificate)

Prepare to work as a help desk specialist, PC systems administrator or information center specialist. Learn microcomputer systems hardware, operating systems and applications software. Master one major commercial product for word processing, database, spreadsheet and presentation applications. Upon completion, be eligible to sit for the A+ certification exam.
Network Engineering Technology Prepare to work as a network administrator or network engineer. Learn to install, manage, troubleshoot and upgrade computer networks.
Programming Prepare to work as a junior programmer, programmer or analyst. Learn to produce program logic plans, apply procedural and object oriented techniques, write programs, and understand e-business, e-commerce and e-tailing.
Programming and Networking Prepare to work in programming and network administration as a network administrator, distributed system programmer or network system analyst. Learn to configure a computer to function as a web, file or application server, design and manage a computer network, and use markup, scripting, programming languages and application packages for delivery via web browsers or application programs.
Project Management

Prepare to work as a project manager. Learn to initiate, plan, execute, control and report progress, and use software to create and manage project schedules effectively by using accepted principles.
Website Development and Administration Prepare to work in website design and management. Learn to configure a computer to function as a web server, and design and manage an artistically and technically sound website. Learn use use markup, scripting and programming languages, and develop webpages and sites that effectively combine text, graphics, animation, audio and video.

Computer Art and Design
Program Description
Advertising Design Prepare to enter this field as a designer or assistant art director in advertising agencies, design firms, corporate communication departments and the television industry. Study graphic design, advertising design, visual communication, multimedia and illustration.
Computer Aided Design Prepare for a position as a computer aided design technician in business, industry and government, manufacturing, construction and architectural firms.
Learn to develop complete sets of working drawings and plans, along with parts used, specifications, and cost of materials estimates.
Computer Graphics Prepare to work in a design firm, corporate or communications department, educational software company, television, film and video-effects house, and other branches of the information and entertainment industries. Learn 3D model building, lighting, animation, storyboards, concept sketches, painting and compositing, and web design and development.
