New Pathways to Teaching in New Jersey
Alternate Route to Teacher Certification Program

MCCC is pleased to offer the Alternate Route to Teacher Certification program, approved by the NJ Department of Education and in collaboration with New Jersey City University (NJCU).

Students will have the option of enrolling on a not-for-credit (certificate) basis, or a credit basis, which will award 15 graduate credits through NJCU.

Admission Qualifications

To be considered for admission you need:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a major in, or related to, your intended teaching field
  • A minimum grade point average of 2.75 in your undergraduate studies or the highest degree earned
  • Certificate of Eligibility issued by the New Jersey Department of Education
  • Promise of a full time teaching position for September 05 in a school district that participates in the provisional teacher program
