Website Development & Administration
Associate in Applied Science Degree in Information Technology
Webmaster Certificate of Proficiency
The Website Development and Administration option of the Information Technology
program prepares students for career opportunities in website design and
management. MCCC is located close to many corporate and government
institutions that employ computer professionals. The field of website
design, development, maintenance, and administration is growing faster
than the supply of trained professionals.
This option also prepares students for transfer to e-commerce programs
at technically oriented colleges such as New Jersey Institute of Technology
and LaSalle University.
The Webmaster certificate program provides the essential technical knowledge
and skills for entry-level employment in the field.
Successful graduates will be able to:
- configure a computer that uses any of the major operating systems to function as a web server;
- design and manage an artistically and technically sound website for business-to-business, business-to-consumer, and non-profit applications;
- use markup, scripting, and programming languages together with application packages to develop webpages and sites that appropriately combine text, graphics, animation, audio, and video;
- apply analytical skills to solve business and technical problems;
- communicate effectively with non-technical personnel in a business setting.
Admission requires a high school diploma or its equivalent with two years of algebra, experience
with the Internet equivalent to IST 140,
and the ability to use word processing and spreadsheet software on a personal computer.
