MCCC’s James Kerney Campus to Hold Free Virtual Employment Fair July 1 for Trenton-Area Job Seekers

06/24/20

TRENTON, NJ – Mercer County Community College’s (MCCC’s) James Kerney Campus (JKC) will host its first-ever virtual employment training fair from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1. The event will be presented through the Zoom conferencing platform and is free of charge. Advance registration is required.

The Trenton Community Resources for Employment Fair will provide learning sessions and subsequent employment opportunities for individuals seeking preferential consideration for upcoming open positions from local employers in the Trenton area. Anyone seeking full- or part-time employment is encouraged to attend.

“We are very excited at JKC because despite the Covid environment there are many employers who are actively hiring right now,” said Dr. Tonia Perry-Conley, Dean of MCCC’s James Kerney Campus. “We want to provide learning opportunities to the Trenton community to hone the skills necessary to compete successfully in today’s job market. Anyone interested can enroll and then participate in the event virtually from home.”

Job seekers can choose from about a dozen sessions that are designed to enhance employment acquisition skills. Some of the topics to be covered include how to: interview in a virtual world and write a resume, enhance communication and teamwork skills, land a government position or a job in the gig economy, among others. There will also be opportunities to take advantage of free services such as job search assistance and training for in-demand industries as well as complimentary vouchers for professional attire for both men and women.

The employment services fair is the first of a two-part series. The July 1 event will prep potential employees. The second event will bring the attendees of the training fair together with employers.

“It’s important for those interested in attending to register now so that they will have an opportunity to meet face-to-face with potential employers during the next session,” said Perry-Conley.

Participating sponsors include Eckerd Connects Professional Development, ResCare Workforce Services, Dress for Success Central New Jersey, The Father Center, Mercer County One-Stop Career Center, Greater Mercer TMA and Princeton Air.
