WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- Students of all ages will find increased opportunities this fall at Mercer County Community College (MCCC). Most credit classes begin August 31. Previously-registered students can sign up for classes online.

In addition to nearly 70 associate degree programs plus more than 30 credit certificate programs, new options beginning this fall include Solar/Energy Technology, Global Business, Physics, and Insurance and Finance. Specialized programs in Aviation, Funeral Services and Horticulture attract students from the tri-state region.

Also new this fall are bachelor's degree programs offered for MCCC graduates right on the campus by William Paterson University (WPU) in Education, Liberal Arts and Psychology. WPU joins two other four-year colleges at Mercer. Fairleigh Dickinson University offers bachelor's degree programs in business, hospitality, communications and criminal justice, and Felician College offers a BS in nursing.

Recent New Jersey legislation ensures that community college credits will transfer easily to four-year state colleges, and Mercer also holds transfer agreements with other colleges nationwide. Many students begin their careers right after graduation in fields such as Physical Therapist Assistant, Law Enforcement, Entertainment Technology and Graphic Design.

MCCC offers free tutoring, academic advisement and assistance with state and federal financial aid programs, grants, loans and scholarships. This fall there is additional funding available through federal stimulus programs.

Highly motivated students may enter the Honors Program, which provides an enriched college experience for high-achieving students. Mercer continues to accept recent high school graduates tuition-free through the NJSTARS program. Those who graduate in the top 15% of their high school class and enroll in at least 12 college credits are eligible.

Students at Mercer take classes at the West Windsor Campus and the James Kerney Campus in downtown Trenton, and via distance learning through MCCC's The Virtual College.
