WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- The Mercer County Community College Chorus and Jazz Band invite the public to enjoy their free winter concerts at Kelsey Theatre.
College Chorus will perform on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
Composed of students from across the campus as well as music majors, the chorus will perform works from a wide variety of musical styles, including folksongs by Bela Bartok and Charles Ives and traditional holiday tunes in contemporary settings. The chorus is directed by Pamela Sharples.
Directed by Professor James Kelly, the band will present a varied and exciting program. Repertoire will include such jazz classics as Oliver Nelson's Stolen Moments and Thad Jones' A Child is Born as well as Herbie Hancock's funk romp, Watermelon Man and Clifford Brown's be-bop gem, Daahoud. All selections will feature standout improvisations by MCCC jazz students, who will be performing in small groups settings as well as in the full band. Professor Kelly says, "The college warmly invites the community to join us for this celebration of America's classic musical art form."
