Three to be Honored by Mercer County Community College's
Board of Trustees at Open House Nov. 10


West Windsor, NJ:  Mercer County Community College’s (MCCC) Board of Trustees will honor an alumnus and two community partners at its annual Open House and Report to the Community on Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Conference Center on the West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.  The Open House, which is free, will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

In addition to receiving an abundance of information, prospective students will be able to talk with counselors and register for winter and spring classes at the event.
During an awards presentation at 6:30 p.m., the college’s Board of Trustees will present their 2011 awards:

  • Alumni Leader Award:  Jeff Callahan, of Hamilton, has been a member of the college community for more than 40 years, and currently is an administrative specialist in the Liberal Arts division. He serves as secretary for the Curriculum, Distinguished Teaching and Academic Integrity Committees.  A 1997 graduate of the Funeral Service Education program, he is a licensed funeral director and a member of the Mercer County, New Jersey and National Funeral Directors Associations as well as the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. He volunteers his time to assist senior citizens in completing medical claims, is a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and belongs to the American Legion.

  • Partner in Learning Award:  WZBN TV, the cable television station for Mercer County, has covered events and news at MCCC since 1993, and regularly broadcasts interviews with college faculty and staff.  The station has hired many student interns and graduates over the years, and two are currently employed there. For six years WZBN offered an annual $1,000 scholarship for MCCC graduates planning to continue their education in broadcasting.

  • Corporate Partner Award: SES, the world’s premiere satellite provider, has continued to choose MCCC’s Center for Training and Development (CTD) to provide training programs for its employees.  For more than a decade the CTD has trained SES employees worldwide, including at sites in New Jersey, Washington D.C., the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
