Mercer County Community College to Host Youth Leadership Summit Oct. 22
West Windsor, N.J. – Mercer County Community College’s (MCCC) Youth College will host its first Youth Leadership Summit and Teen Town Hall meeting on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the college’s James Kerney Campus, 102 North Broad Street, Trenton, in Kerney Hall.
Topics will include teen dating, domestic violence, goal setting, critical thinking development, careers in science and technology and college preparation. Open to community members, the summit is geared for students from eighth grade through sophomore year in college.
Various community leaders have been invited to participate. Rakima Stokes-Little, assistant director of SMILE/GEAR UP at MCCC, will provide information on college preparation. Lunch will be provided and the event is free.
“We hope that the community-at-large will come out to support our youth,” said Don Davis, director of the James Kerney Campus Youth College. “As a part of the White House Young Americans’ Initiative, the summit has taken place previously in Newark and now it is time to make an impact in Trenton.”
