"The H Equatio
n" Exhibits Work of Eleanor Burnette at MCCC's Gallery

WEST WINDSOR, NJ -- The Gallery at Mercer County Community College is pleased to offer as its first show of the 2006-2007 season, "The H Equation," a solo exhibition of the work of Eleanor Burnette. The show runs now through Oct. 5, with an opening reception Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. An artist talk is set for Monday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.

A Trenton resident, Burnette has been a recognized and well-respected artist in the New York and New Jersey region since relocating from Chicago to the Princeton area in the late 1970s. She completed her BA in Fine Arts at Chicago State University and built upon that education after moving to New Jersey, spending a semester at New York City's New School studying with Chaim Gross, followed by a two-year apprenticeship at the Johnson Atelier Technical Institute.

"Another Kind of Music" by Eleanor Burnette.

"As an artist, it feels as if Eleanor is part anthropologist, part child, part architect, and always fearless," said Tricia Fagan, director of The Gallery at MCCC. "She is constantly exploring new media, pushing the limits of her work, pursuing deceptively simple visual concepts at times, and creating work that can bring the viewer to surprisingly complex places."

New works from Burnette's recent residencies at Peter's Valley and Vermont Studio Center, as well as older works from some of her earlier series, have been included in this exhibit. According to Fagan, the show retains the dignity, beauty, and intelligence so typical of Burnette's art, but offers a view of it that is perhaps more nuanced and introspective than past shows of her work.

The Gallery at Mercer County Community College is located on the second floor of the Communications Building on the West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. Show hours are Monday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Thursday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 609-570-3589 or visit The Gallery's website here.
