Doo Wop Revival Comes to Mercer County June 11

Fans of the golden age of rock and roll have something to look forward to close to home in Mercer County, New Jersey. On Saturday, June 11 at 8 p.m. The Mercer County Community College Foundation will host a Doo Wop Revival at Kelsey Theatre on the college’s West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road, near Trenton.

Headlining the event will be The Quotations, well known for their hit song “Imagination,” at the top of the charts back in 1961. Also performing favorites from the 50s and 60s will be “Just4,” an all-female barbershop quartet that is part of Sweet Adelines International.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Student Scholarship Fund at Mercer County Community College. Ticket prices are $35 and $50. Every seat is a good seat at Kelsey Theatre. Tickets may be ordered online at or by calling the Kelsey Theatre box office at 609-584-9444. A registration form that can be printed out and mailed back is online here.

The Quotations have performed nationwide, including at Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, Westbury Music Fair, Atlantic City, and dozens of Doo-Wop Revival shows across the country. With a bit of humor and some amazing vocal gymnastics, this classy, highly entertaining group never fails to get standing ovations from audiences. Their hit "Imagination" epitomized the up-tempo doo-wop genre of early 60's rock and roll music -- solid harmonies built around a driving baritone/bass with occasional nonsensical lyrical treatment of classic "standards."

At the concert the group will perform hits of the era such as “Love Potion #9,” “Cara Mia,” “My Prayer,” “Impossible Dream,” “Gloria,” “Could this be Magic/This Magic Moment Medly,” “Pretty Woman,” “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” and more.
“Just 4” is a quartet of four women who love to share their music. A member of Sweet Adelines International, the mission of “Just4” is to sing well, entertain, and bring a love of barbershop music to new audiences. Some of their favorite songs from the 1950s and 60s, including “Blue Velvet,” “I Can't Give You Anything But Love,” “Let Me Call You Sweetheart,” “Love Me Tender,” and “When I Fall in Love.”
