Brigadier General Awards Mercer County Community College

Mercer County Community College Dean of College Advancement, Bill Mate, left, accepts a citation on behalf of the college from Brigadier General Robert S. Dutko, Sr. of the New Jersey Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

New Jersey Brigadier General Robert S. Dutko Sr. presented a citation to Mercer County Community College on March 14 “for contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve force.” College security guard John J. Raimondi, a National Guard member, has just returned to the U.S. from service in Iraq, and is expected to return to work at the end of April.

Dutko, of Ewing, who is retired from the U.S. Air Force, is state chairman of the New Jersey Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense volunteer organization that provides education, consultation and mediation for employers of Guard and Reserve members.

MCCC President Robert Rose said, “It’s an honor for the college to be recognized by the ESGR for our support of Guard and Reserve members on our staff. Our Veteran’s Affairs office has always played an important role in supporting staff as well as students who return to college after serving in the armed forces.” The college’s policies fully comply with ESGR requirements, Rose said.
