The Public is Invited to Soar Above Mercer County
at Pennies Per Pound Flight Fair March 24

3-2-07

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- The public is invited to see the region from a new perspective -- soaring above Mercer County -- at Mercer County Community College's Flight Fair on Saturday, March 24, 2007, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, March 25.

Members of the college's Aviation faculty will offer small-plane rides, taking off from the college's hangar at Trenton-Mercer Airport. The cost is 20 cents per pound (weights are kept secret), with a minimum charge of $8 and a maximum of $22 per person.

A view from the air.

The 20-minute ride is a beautiful way to see the area, says Aviation Professor Jerry Kuhl. Proceeds will benefit the college's Flight Team, which took first place at the Region VII competition of the National Intercollegiate Flying Association last fall. Proceeds from this event will help the team finance its trip to the national competition at Ohio State University in May.

The Trenton-Mercer Airport is located in Ewing Township. Visitors should take I-95 to the Scotch Road exit, then follow the signs to Ronson Aviation. The college's hangar is down the road to the right of Ronson. Food and beverages will be available. Call 609-530-1272 for more information. For more detailed directions click here.

Mercer County Community College offers an associate degree program in Flight Technology that attracts students from throughout the state and region. The college owns a fleet of airplanes housed at the Trenton-Mercer Airport.
