We are deeply saddened by news of the tragic loss of two Mercer County Community College students. One was the victim of a murder last weekend and the other a victim of suicide after stabbing a fellow student off campus. We are encouraged that the stabbing victim survived, and our thoughts are with her for a successful recovery.

The college extends our deepest sympathy to the families and friends. Such events, which are more prevalent in these times and beyond our understanding, leave us unsettled.

We realize that students and staff may be disturbed by this news. Mercer County Community College Counselors are now available to speak with students. They are Tim Moran, Martha Gunning and Fred Weiner, whose offices are located on the second floor of the Student Center. Dean Diane Campbell will also be available, in SC 236. At the James Kerney Campus the counselors are Margarita Leahy and Priscilla Simpson.
