The Inauguration of Dr. Patricia C. Donohue
Dr. Patricia C. Donohue was formally installed as the fifth president and first woman president of Mercer County Community College on May 4 at a ceremony at the college's Conference Center. Dr. Donohue was escorted into the auditorium by a procession of robed college faculty and staff members and invited dignitaries. Story and photos here.

Dr. Thomas Wilfrid Receives NJCCC Commendation
MCCC Vice President Thomas N. Wilfrid received a Resolution of Commendation from the N.J. Council of County Colleges, expressing gratitude and appreciation, and citing his exemplary leadership on a number of key college priorities when he served as MCCC's acting president. These included initiating an honors program, expanding online and blended courses, securing approvals for several Chapter 12 capital projects, opening the Mercer County Police Academy on the West Windsor Campus, and establishing a formal partnership with Educational Testing Service.

James Kerney Campus Awards Night an Inspiration
In an uplifting ceremony on May 8, hundreds of James Kerney Campus program graduates were recognized for completing their studies in both credit and noncredit programs. More here.

Academic Success Celebrated May 11
Mercer's PASS program (Programs for Academic Services and Success), which encompasses the EOF program and Services for Student Success program, celebrated student accomplishment on May 11. PASS is a retention services program that offers counseling, peer tutoring, academic advisement, summer classes, leadership training, mentoring, and extra assistance with financial aid, orientation and transfer. Honors Program Celebrates First Semester Success
Many of the 30 students who participated in the inaugural semester of Mercer's Honors Program gathered with faculty and family members for a symposium on May 8. They shared their Honors projects and experiences. More here.

Faculty Member Wins Fellowship for Research in Brazil
MCCC Faculty member Marta Bermudez has received a summer stipend from the National Endowment for the Humanities to do research at the University of Sao Paolo in Brazil for six weeks. She will be studying multiethnic oral traditions during the Brazilian Baroque period (1600s).

New Date for MCCC's Golf Classic -- Oct. 16
Mercer's Athletics Department has changed the date of its 16th Annual Golf Classic to Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the Mercer Oaks East Golf Course in West Windsor. Proceeds will be donated to the Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund. Sponsorship opportunities are available from $125 to $5,000, and prize donations are welcome.
