You're Invited to MCCC's "Creating the Future" this Thursday, Dec. 4
Reminder! All are invited to the college's biggest special event of the year, "Creating the Future" at MCCC's Conference Center on Thursday, Dec. 4. Hosted by the college's Board of Trustees, this "Report to the Community" will showcase student and college success while providing information about college programs and services. Mercer's 2007-08 Annual Report and Foundation Annual Report will be available.

An Open House takes place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by an awards presentation at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. This year's awardees are alumna Ana Berdecia of Thomas Edison State College, Cenlar FSB, and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton. Read more and sign up here.

Men's Soccer Finishes Third in Nation
For the ninth consecutive year the MCCC men's soccer team qualified for the 2008 Division I National Junior College Athletic Association tournament. The Vikings took third place in this year's competition held in Phoenix, AZ, Nov. 20-23. Coach Charlie Inverso, now in his 23rd season with the Vikings, has earned the second best soccer record in NJCAA Division I history. More here.

"Wow Factor" Apparent During National Chemistry Week
More than 20 students from MCCC and several from Rider University prepared and presented experiments to 550 youngsters at five area elementary schools during National Chemistry Week. According to MCCC Associate Chemistry Professor Helen Tanzini, thrilling children with the wonders of science is the goal of the visits she and her students make each year with the support of the Trenton Section of the American Chemical Society. MCCC Hosts "Italians in Mercer County"
The Trenton/Hamilton/Valnerina Sister City Relationship (Gemellaggio) hosted a program celebrating the achievements and contributions of Italians in Mercer County on Nov. 22 at MCCC's Conference Center. The event explored the Italian experience since the time of mass immigration to New Jersey. More here from The Times.

MCCC Grad Jorunn Evju Wins 2008 Student Athlete Award
Jorunn Evju, a May graduate, has been selected to receive the 2008 Outstanding Student-Athlete Award from the Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey. She was selected from among all female student athletes who attend community colleges in New Jersey.

The Center for Continuing Studies Announces Spring Classes
Offering a broad array of courses -- from business management and leadership to marshal arts and sushi -- Mercer's Center for Continuing Studies has just published its new bulletin for classes beginning January through May, 2009. New offerings include "Pharmacovigilance," focusing on pharmaceutical safety, "How to Manage Your E-Mail so it Doesn't Manage You," and "Ask the Veterinarian!" "Oral Interpretation" Student Group to Perform Dec. 6-7
MouthWorks is back! MCCC's Comedy Troupe performs a hilarious show, "Jello Baby," Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. in the Studio Theatre, next to Kelsey Theatre. Admission is free and no reservations are required. The show is rated PG. Faculty member Kathi Paluscio says "Come early for seats." More here.

Winter Concerts by MCCC Chorus and Jazz Band Dec. 9 and 10
The MCCC Chorus and Jazz Band will present Winter Concerts at Kelsey Theatre which are free and open to the public. The Chorus, directed by Pamela Sharples, performs on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. The MCCC Jazz Band, directed by Professor James Kelly, will perform on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. More here.

Mercer Gets Into the Holiday Spirit
A very Happy Holiday Season to all! Staff and students at Mercer are giving generously to many drives for the holidays, collecting gifts and monetary donations for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, the United Way, Home Front, National Guard families and Toys for Tots. If you would like to contribute a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots, the d
ropoff site is Kelsey Theatre's lobby through Dec. 14. They request no stuffed animals. For more information call Amy Foris at 609-570-3581.
