Fall Credit Classes Begin Aug. 31
MCCC's fall credit classes begin Aug.
31. Full information is available at the college website, where previously
registered students can register online. New
program options this fall include Solar/Energy Technology, Global Business,
Physics, and Insurance and Finance. More here.

WPU To Offer Bachelor's Degrees at Mercer
MCCC and William Paterson University (WPU) recently signed an agreement
that enables WPU to offer bachelor's degree programs right on Mercer's
West Windsor campus. Associate degree graduates from all colleges are
eligible for the program. An Information Session is set for Wed., Aug.
19 at 6 p.m. at MCCC's Student Center. More here.
to Help Adults Returning to College
A one-year grant from the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education will
enable Mercer to contact and re-engage previous students who left in good
academic standing. The goal of the $74,185 grant is to increase the number
of New Jersey students who complete college degrees or certificates. Some
students may be eligible for forgiveness of back tuition debt. More here.
to School Night Aug. 13
Mercer's Center for Continuing Studies will host a "Back to School
Night for Adults," focusing on short-term, noncredit training programs,
including those suitable for career changers. It takes place Thursday,
Aug. 13, 5 p.m. at The Conference Center at Mercer. More here.

Two "Green" Career Programs Launched
Two new programs at Mercer will help prepare the workforce for a greener
future. A credit certificate program in Solar/Energy Technology will offer
training for careers in demand, and a noncredit certificate program in
Green Future Management is designed for professionals in a variety of

New Option in Mercer's Nursing Program
Beginning this fall Mercer's Nursing program will offer a hybrid/online
option designed to fit the schedules of those who work full- or part-time.
Professional Nursing classes can be taken online, while the clinical/lab
component of the program will be offered in a 12-hour session one day

Zanjani is New Vice President
On July 6 Mellissia Zanjani joined Mercer's administrative team as vice
president for college advancement. Most recently Ms. Zanjani served as
vice president of institutional advancement at Tacoma Community College.
CTD Secures Training Grants for Six Organizations
The Center for Training and Development has secured training grants from
New Jersey's Department of Labor and Workforce Development for six area
businesses and nonprofit organizations. Totaling over $300,000, the grants
will provide training to boost employee skills. More here.
Soup to Nuts at the Culinary Center This Fall
Some of the region's finest chefs will head to the Culinary Center at
Mercer this fall to share secret ingredients and demonstrate a broad range
of tried-and-true cooking techniques. Classes start Sept. 9 and continue
through Dec. 5. More here.
Mouthworks Comedy Troupe Performing Benefit Shows
Talented students and alumni who make up the MouthWorks Comedy Troupe
are making a serious difference this summer for area nonprofit organizations.
Coming shows on Aug. 28 and 29 will benefit the Veterans of Foreign Wars
and the Lambertville/New Hope Rescue Squad. More here.
Mercer to Host National Men's Soccer Tournament;
MCCC is lining up sponsors to participate in the 2009 National Junior
College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Men's Soccer Tournament
set for Nov. 19-22. Thousands are expected to participate. An
opening night banquet will take place Nov. 18. More here.
Gallery Calls for Entries for 2009 Mercer County
The Gallery at Mercer invites area photographers to submit work for the
2009 Mercer County Photographers Exhibit. Jurying will take place Saturday,
Aug. 29. Dates for the show are Sept. 8 to Oct. 8. More here.
