Planned for January 23
A festive evening is being planned to celebrate the retirement of eleven
colleagues on Friday evening, January 23, 2004. Everyone please save
the date – details will follow.
100% of Students Pass
MCCC's May 2003 graduates of the Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)
program had a 100% pass rate on their recent national certification
exam. According to program coordinator Jane O'Reilly, Mercer now can
claim six consecutive years with a 100% pass rate for all of its MLT
students who took a national certification exam.
TV Students Film for
MCCC's Channel 23 will soon be airing student work that showcases campus
activities. About ten student volunteers have been filming campus events
-- at the Art Gallery, the MC3 Studio Theatre, sporting events, Club
Day, the Distinguished Lecture Series, the 5K run, and more. These events
will be part of a news brief about MCCC.
"The project gives students an opportunity to do more than class
projects," said Valarie Daniels, a teaching assistant and adjunct
faculty member in the television program. Students also plan to film
a "Mercer Arts" segment that will focus on the college arts
scene, including productions such as the recent "Laramie Project."
MCCC Wins College Bowl
Mercer students won a College Bowl at Monmouth University recently.
They competed against ten two- and four-year colleges, including Montclair
State, Monmouth University, and even Rutgers Law School, to win the
overall College Bowl Championship!
Representing Mercer on the winning team were Student Activities Board
members Matthew Stein, Anthony Lagana, Tina Lestician and Robert Sutton.
Team coaches were Theresa Contor, Geri Isme and Danielle Garruba. See
The Bowl was part of the regional conference of the Association of
College Unions International, held the weekend of Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.
New Alumni Sweatshirts/Tee
MCCC staffers who are also alumni recently visited the college bookstore
to model the newly designed sweatshirts and tee shirts available for
alumni and friends. See photo
Head Start Food Services
Trained by MCCC
MCCC's HRI faculty members, Doug Fee and Chris dePagnier, and business
facuty member Herb Spiegel, were part of a training session for the
Mercer County Head Start Child Development Program recently. In a thank-you
letter Anita Patwardham said "Since our return to Head Start, our
food service ladies have improved morale and an increased sense of pride.
This is a direct result of the way they were treated by you and your
dedicated staff and associates. We are all deeply touched."

December 20 the MCCC Gallery is
hosting a unique exhibit featuring seventeen outstanding contemporary
African American visual artists. Curated by Larry Hilton, the show attempts

Classics Coming to
Adventures in the deep, dark jungle

by Theatre IV, the award-winning children's theater company, this musical
version of the Rudyard Kipling classic will delight both the young and

on 34th Street" during the holidays, you will welcome
the chance to introduce your children to this magical story in a live
musical production coming to Kelsey Theatre. "Miracle on 34th Street"
will be presented by Playful Theatre Productions Fridays and Saturdays,
Nov. 28, 29, Dec. 5 and 6 at 8 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, Nov.
29, 30, Dec. 6 and 7 at 2 p.m. An Opening Night Gala on Nov. 28 will
give the audience a chance to enjoy refreshments with the cast and crew
