Seuss and Shakespeare Inspire Kelsey Theatre's New Season
"Oh, the Places You Will Go With Kelsey Theatre!" is the theme of Kelsey Theater's 2010-2011 season, inspired by the late greats, Dr. Seuss and William Shakespeare.
The adventure begins Sept. 3 with a musical of "Hansel and Gretel," followed by 17 additional full-length productions for family and adult audiences. Included are "Seussical, the Musical," "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" "Amadeus," "The Tempest" and "Blithe Spirit." Giobbi/Person Part of Trenton Art Event Aug. 7
Two MCCC faculty members will participate in the Euphemia art gallery event in Trenton on Aug. 7, 6 to 9 p.m. Matthew Giobbi, assistant professor of psychology, will display his photography, and Jody Person, assistant professor of theatre, will present his own short play. The theme is "Art, Freud & The Unconscious." According to Giobbi, "It is going to be a high profile event with the New York Times reviewing." It takes place at 354 S. Broad St. in downtown Trenton.
Save the Date for MCCC's Golf Classic Oct. 5

Save the Date for Floyd Fest for Education Oct. 17
The MCCC Foundation is planning Floyd Fest, a "Jazzy Event" that will honor Jim and Fannie Floyd and endow a scholarship fund in their name at MCCC. Jim Floyd is a long time member of the MCCC Foundation Board who has been very active in the community. He served as Princeton's first African-American mayor in 1970.
Sponsors are now being sought for this event, which takes place on Oct. 17, 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Nassau Inn in Princeton. All are invited to attend. Details here.

MCCC's Summer Viking newsletter has just arrived from the printer, with feature stories on the May Study Tour to Italy, a faculty spotlight (with updates on Ken Howarth, Alvyn Haywood, Jim Maccariella and Padhraig Higgins), top graduates, alumni features, sports and news briefs.

Mercer's bookstore, operated by Follett, is offering rental books for the first time this fall, thus helping students save money. Books can be ordered online at rentatext.com. Read Follett's press relese here.
Alumni Success: Miroslaw Babiarz Plays Two Seasons in Polish Pro League
Miroslaw Babiarz considers his years at Mercer to have been excellent preparation -- not only for the professional basketball career he has pursued in Poland for the last two seasons, but also for a future that includes returning to college for his master's degree back in the United States. "I had a great coaching staff at Mercer," recalls the 26-year-old Polish native. More here.
Alumni Success: Fine Arts Education Fuels Creative Life For LynnMontes
Lynn Montes '71 taps into her artistic sensibilities regularly in both her professional and personal life. As a bathroom designer, she facilitates redesign and installation projects for Elegant Bath & Kitchen Shoppe in Pleasantville, NJ. Her creative life outside the store includes fabric weaving, photography, painting and more.
Montes credits MCCC with being a springboard for her spirited life and providing her a well-rounded educational experience. "Who would have thought that a non-Euclidian geometry course that I took at Mercer would help me in wrapping my loom today?" she said. "Mercer professors gave me the key to unlock the door to a lifetime of endless possibilities." More here.
