From Diane Campbell: The Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) is currently accepting applications for the NEW Leadership™ New Jersey Summer Institute.  Help us educate and inspire the next generation of women leaders by encouraging the aspiring leaders to apply! The dates are June 10-15, 2010 at the Eagleton Institute of Politics on the New Brunswick campus of Rutgers. Flyer here.

Flight Fairs April 10 and May 1
MCCC Aviation faculty and flight instructors will take to the skies for a good cause at Community Flight Fairs on Saturday, April 10 and Saturday, May 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., departing from the Trenton-Mercer Airport.  Rain dates are Sundays, April 11 and May 2. Proceeds will benefit MCCC’s Flight Team, which competes in the National SAFECON competition in Terre Haute, IN, this May. More here.

Commencement and Honors Convocation Set for May 20
Please note that MCCC’s 2010 Commencement ceremonies will take place on Thursday, May 20, 5:30 p.m. at the West Windsor Campus. The Honors Convocation will take place the same day at 2:30 p.m. Please spread the word as the Student Calendar Handbook lists a different date.

Monica Weaver, JKC Provost and Dean, to be Honored by MTAACC
Each year the Metropolitan Trenton African American Chamber of Commerce recognizes individuals who have demonstrated leadership, courage and professionalism in the public, private and community sectors, and have made significant contributions to the community. This year MCCC's Monica Weaver will be one of four honorees at a reception March 18 at the Trenton Marriott. More here.

Bonding Propels Men's Basketball Team to Nationals
On Tuesday, March 16, the Vikings wil make their first appearance at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Tournament since 1998. The Vikings (20-12) open play at the 25th annual event in Danville, Ill., against sixth-seeded Kishwaukee College (26-6) of Malta, Ill.

Players have clearly embraced the "team-first" concept that is essential for second-year head coach Howard Levy to run his version of the Princeton offense. More here.

Lessons of Love and Loss Presented by MCCC Theatre Students in "Rent"
With its enduring lessons of love, loss and living life to the fullest, the groundbreaking rock opera, "Rent," will be performed by MCCC Theatre students and community actors April 9 through 18. "The show will be grittier and less colorful than the Broadway production," says faculty member Jody Person. "We want to capture the atmosphere of the artistic scene in the East Village at that time." The show's essential message of love, as seen through the eyes of the character Angel, will remain at the forefront.
