on NJSTARS Program
Jake Farbman of the Council of County Colleges informs us that the new
NJ STARS Task Force, consisting of representatives from the Governor's
Office, state legislators, and higher education leaders, will be holding
public hearings on Thursday, August 14, at Camden County College's Civic
Hall in Blackwood, NJ.
"As many of you
know, the State was going to institute a family income cap to the NJ STARS
program to help control the costs of the scholarship. But the Governor
and legislators decided to fully fund the program this academic year,
2008-2009, with the premise that this new Task Force would recommend other
ways to control costs."
Farbman asks that
NJ STARS students, faculty or staff who would like to testify at these
hearings to please let him know. He also says "It would be helpful
if NJ STARS students and community college staff attend these hearings
as spectators. Farbman
may be reached at (609) 392-3434 or at email@example.com.
