Student-Athletes Transfer to the Next Level
This year's Scholar-Athlete Awards went to Christopher Gray, a baseball player who will study physical education at Rowan University, and Kathy Park, who played first base for the women's softball team and will transfer to Rutgers to study graphic design. Security Officer Wins "Outstanding Chemistry Student" Award
MCCC Security Officer Tim Klockner was this year's recipient of the "Outstanding Chemistry Student " award, sponsored annually by the Trenton section of the American Chemical Society. He received his award at a banquet on May 8 at Antonio's restaurant in West Trenton. The Trenton section of the ACS honors students who have shown excellence in chemistry.The award is given to the top MCCC, Rider and TCNJ students each year. Photo here.

Student Presents Honors Research
Approximately 35 students, faculty and staff attended the presentation of MCCC's Honors Research Student Eun Choi in May. Her research was on "Magnetic Resonance Study On C-N Amide Bond Rotational Barriers," under the guidance of Dr. Alex Grushow of Rider University." This was Eun Choi's second semester as a participant in the program. Rider faculty members gave a summary of student research projects for the benefit of potential MCCC researchers. Photo here.

Heart Walk Set for Sept. 16
The 2007 Heart Walk is set for Sunday, Sept. 16 at Mercer County Park. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 10:30 a.m. Every company participating in the heart walk will be awarding one employee a lifestyle change award. It will go to the employee who has made a major change like losing weight, stopping smoking, lowering cholesterol, etc. The top three winners will be recognized at the walk. If you would like to nominate someone, click here for the form. Please print, fill out and send to Amy Iseneker, MS 124, by June 29.

Weinberg Earns Certification
Elaine Weinberg, director of the Center for Training and Development, is now a Certified Program Planner with specialization in contracted training. "She just received word that she passed the exam," said Lynn Coopersmith. "I applaud her for this accomplishment and hope that it will further strengthen our CTD programs and service to the business community."

Blando Son Completes Documentary
Former Mercer student Ken Blando, son of long-time MCCC tutor Joe Blando, is the owner of Pulse Productions in Plainsboro, a video, audio, film and multimedia production company. He recently completed a project for "Secure the Future," documenting an effort to get drugs to third-world countries, especially Africa. The five-minute piece is being used in gallery displays throughout the country.
