Kevin Kerins New Head Coach for MCCC Baseball
Kevin Kerins has been named head coach for baseball at Mercer, according to Athletics Director John Simone. Kerins served as interim head coach during the 2012 season, when the Vikings earned a 29-15 record and advanced to the Region XIX championship game, where they lost 4-3 against Lackawanna College. Simone notes that Kerins is a natural choice for the head coach position, having served as assistant coach under Matt Wolski since 2005. In addition, Kerins attended MCCC in 2000, playing for the Vikings when they advanced to the Division II Junior College World Series. More here.

Alumni Success: Mark Applegate '95
Alum Mark Applegate, a 1995 Theatre graduate, hadn’t performed at Kelsey Theatre for years, but once he stepped out on stage, it was like he never left. Applegate recently starred in Maurer Productions’ musical “The Drowsy Chaperone,” presented at Kelsey in early June. “My first experience back at Kelsey has been so much more than I could ever have anticipated,” said Applegate, who praised the talents and professionalism of Director John Maurer and the rest of the cast. “They were all amazing.” Applegate’s starring role was simply known as “Man in Chair,” but in fact, he was the narrator, sitting on stage throughout the show, offering amusing commentary and anecdotes.
