"Go Live" for Finance! Datatel Finance System to Launch July 2
From Susan Bowen: We are pleased to announce that on Monday, July 2, the college will “Go Live for Finance” with the launch of the Datatel Colleague Finance system, including the General Ledger, Purchasing and Accounts Payable. Many thanks to our Project NASA Finance team for a job well done! Budget managers received detailed information regarding the launch at a planning meeting last week.

The FY13 budget was discussed along with the closing of FY12 in Integrow and the opening of the FY13 budget, purchasing and financial systems in Colleague. Training for budget managers is planned for the weeks of June 18th and 24th. We appreciate your anticipated cooperation in the launch of one of the first Colleague system modules. Stay tuned for updates from Mission Control!

MCCC Celebrates Academic Achievement at Honors Convocation
During Mercer's Honors Convocation that preceded commencement on May 24, the college recognized the academic achievements of top students from the Class of 2012. One-hundred-twenty awards were presented before a capacity crowd of family and friends at Kelsey Theatre. MCCC faculty and administrators were on hand in full regalia to present academic certificates and scholarships to this special group of students. Among the honorees were 21 members of Alpha Theta Gamma, MCCC's chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, 15 NJ STARS graduates, and eight Honors Program graduates. Some of the college's highest achievers received multiple awards. More here.

More About Our Graduates
Every student who has earned his or her degree at MCCC has a success story to tell. Here are some stories that came to the attention of the Public Information office, with photos: Robert Sacks, Jana Wolf, Alex Henry, Kalyse Backett, Pamalli Prather, Andrew Kotula, Michael DiPersio and Nickie Papadopolous.

Advertising Students Design for Trenton Animal Shelter
MCCC’s advanced Advertising Design students put their skills to work for the county’s four-legged friends in their final project of the semester. Culminating what they have studied at Mercer, students created marketing campaigns for an event to be hosted by the Trenton Animal Shelter, which they “pitched” to their professors and representatives of the organization in May. Seven groups of students worked on campaigns for the shelter’s upcoming fundraiser, the 2nd Annual Furry Feet Fete, to be held at the Trenton Marriott Downtown on Nov. 16. They were judged on various components of the campaign, such as branding, slogan, advertisements, newsletter and Facebook page design, and promotional items. More here.

Solar Project Will Help Train Students
"Part of our mission is to meet the needs of business and industry by training our students for careers that are in demand," said Dr. Generals in a recent press release on MCCC's coming solar project. "The solar industry is creating jobs for engineers, electricians, installers, computer scientists and landscape designers. The MCCC solar project will help meet this demand by providing hands-on training for students enrolled in our sustainability-related degree programs," he said. Full release here..

Detailed information on the MCIA/MCCC project is available on the MCIA website here.
