Support the Solar Energy Project!
The Solar Project of the Mercer County Improvement Authority, to be built at MCCC's West Windsor Campus, has garnered news media attention this week. President Donohue wrote a letter to the student newspaper in response to a neighbor's letter to the editor. Board Chair Mark Marzen and MCIA Director Phil Miller co-signed an Op Ed which appeared in the Trenton Times on May 22. A press release about the educational benefits of the farm appeared in many news outlets this week. See all media links in the News section below.

Dr. Donohue is asking for your help. A small number of neighboring property owners have been voicing their concerns in local media. If you support this very beneficial, clean energy project, would you help us show that it has community support by making your voice heard? You can help by writing letters to the editor, especially if you live in West Windsor, and adding comments on MCCC's social media sites. Your help is much appreciated.

Photo Students Volunteer at Home Front
On May 9 "Camera Lucida," Mercer's Photography Club, visited HomeFront's Family Preservation Center. Four photo majors donated their time and talent to make family portraits for about 25 mothers with their children. The photographs will be printed using materials supplied by the students and handed out to the HomeFront clients at the end of May. The students had a lot of fun photographing and interacting with the children, and they received the following thank you from the volunteer coordinator:

"Thank you for coming over to the HomeFront Family Preservation Center today to take pictures. I hope that your photo crew enjoyed the interaction with the families. Some of the families have never had a professional photo taken before, so this was a real treat for them. I am so happy that HomeFront-FPC was your choice for a community service project. Thank you again!! And thanks to your crew for making a difference for the families at the shelter." Alice Archer FPC Volunteer Coordinator

Judy Ehresman Thank You
"Dear Friends & Colleagues, Thank you so much for attending my retirement celebration and for the wonderful gifts. Needless to say, I was overwhelmed by the event. With Alvyn Haywood as the 'MC,' Mitch Canter as the 'Music Man,' and Tina LaPlaca as the 'Graphic Artist,' how could it have been anything but a creative event. Special thanks to Cindy Matyas (project director), Doris Geck, Patti Richards, and Barbara Urban for planning and handling all the details! Especially meaningful to me were the 'testimonials' that colleagues gave, as these represented memories of conversations and interactions over the years that at the time just seemed to be the norm. I will always treasure the special relationships that I have enjoyed here at Mercer and feel that it has been a privilege to have served in two wonderful divisions. Thank you all for your good wishes. You are all special people that make Mercer a special place!"
