Spring Advising Week -- Tell Your Students
Please let students know that MCCC will offer Spring Advising Week, when they can meet with an advisor and register for classes. Free print and meal cards will be given away while supplies last!

WWC: Monday, April 2 and Thursday, April 5, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the cafeteria alcove
JKC: Tuesday, April 3, 4 to 6 p.m. and Wednesday, April 4, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. in Kerney Hall

Bus Trip to Madame Tussauds April 21
Tickets on sale now for a bus trip to NYC to see Madame Tussaud's Museum. The bus leaves the West Windsor Campus at 12:30 p.m. on April 21, and departs NYC at 7 p.m. to return to campus. To purchase tickets, stop at the Student Activities Office, SC111. (Limit two tickets per person.) Tickets are $10 for students with valid ID; $15 for alumni; $20 for faculty/staff; $25 for outside guests. For more information email garrubad@mccc.edu or call ext. 3412.

Alumni Success: Deitra Primas Johnson
There are decisions in life that define everything that follows. That was the case for Deitra (Primas) Johnson '80 (A.S., Telecommunications) when she agreed to play basketball for Mercer in 1978 under then head coach Larry Jackson. Today, she is the sports editor for the Atlanta Daily World, recognized as country's oldest Black daily newspaper. In a nod to her Mercer roots, she also coaches girls basketball. More here.

Student Event Advocates for Justice
MCCC students initiated a rally held yesterday at the West Windsor Campus main quad. A group of students, faculty and staff came together to advocate for justice in the Trayvon Martin case. Many faculty members added their voices to the discussion. The theme was “No Justice, No Peace.”

MCCC Staffer Wins at Pillsbury Bake Off
MCCC staff member Donna Wolfe was one of four semi-finalists at the 45th Pillsbury Bake-Off on Tuesday, and thus had a one-in-four chance of winning the $1 million grand prize for her recipe "Chicken Empanada Cones." As a finalist, Wolfe was on the Martha Stewart Show when the winner was announced. (See the YouTube video here.) Her recipe is online here

Student Restaurant is OPEN Fridays for lunch through May 4, with the exception of March 23. Seating is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in ES111. Pay-at-the-door service only. The cost is $12, which includes appetizer, entree, dessert and beverage. All patrons will be seated on a first-come first-served basis. We ask that group seating be limited to six or fewer. We appreciate your support!

April 13: AAWCC Leader's Breakfast hosted by the American Association for Women in Community Colleges, Mercer Chapter, at the Conference Center, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Guest speaker will be Dr. Kathleen (Casey) Crabill, president of Raritan Valley Community College. Five women will receive the “Patricia C. Donohue Leadership Award.” Complete the Registration Form here, and send it with the fee to Latonya Ashford Ligon, SC261. Kelsey Review Asks for Submissions by May 15: The Kelsey Review literary journal, for those who live or work in Mercer County, is accepting submissions of short fiction, poetry, and essays, as well as black and white drawings. Details here, or call ext. 3306.

Tribute to Legendary Basketball Coach Howie Landa: The committee is searching for alumni, retirees, and long-time MCCC faculty and staff who know Coach Landa. Fundraising is ongoing to inscribe Landa's name on the gymnasium floor. A ceremony on Sept. 15 will unveil the court in the gym, followed by dinner at the Conference Center. Exercise and Healthy Living Classes -- FREE to faculty, staff and students:
Yoga classes meet every Wed. at 12 noon in the gym. Evening Yoga meets Mondays and Thursdays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in FA129.

Zumba classes meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 12 noon in FA129.
