MCCC Students Celebrate Opening of Honors Study Space

MCCC students and faculty recently gathered to celebrate the opening of the Honors Study Space on the first floor of the Student Center, room 137A. The room will be used by students in the Mercer Honors Program, Phi Theta Kappa and NJ STARS.

Students discussed their ideas for the new space, and established a system of rules for the room that they would like everyone to follow. The group also discussed establishing a “buddy list” so that they each have someone to call when they miss class or need help with a class assignment.

“It’s okay to talk about life and learn informally,” said Carol Bork, Honors Program coordinator and associate professor of English. She noted that while the space is intended for use between classes and for studying, it can also be a space where students can have an open forum to discuss their thoughts and ideas.
