IOESS Presents Adjunct Institute at MCCC Conference Center Tomorrow, Jan. 13
The Division of Innovation, Online Education and Student Success (IOESS) will present an Adjunct Institute tomorrow, Jan. 13, in the MCCC Conference Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Whether you are new to MCCC or have been an adjunct instructor for years, this day has been planned for you. We will provide an overview of staff departments at MCCC and offer training in Blackboard, Office 365 and best practices for designing and teaching a course using Blackboard. See the agenda here. Volunteers Needed for 'Welcome Back' Days Jan. 16 and 17
From Danielle Garruba: The Student Life and Leadership Department has planned two days of "Welcome Back" events for students on Tuesday, Jan. 16 and Wednesday, Jan.17, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., in SC104. Co-hosted by the department and the Student Government Association, this is a college-wide effort. Please consider committing at least one hour to help cover SC104 and provide students with a seamless start to the semester. Computers will be set up and pertinent information about the college will be available. Students will be able to log into their portal, where they will be able to check their financial aid status and print schedules. This may require the assistance of staff volunteers. They will also be able to have their photo ID taken. We will be on hand to answer questions and provide maps and directional information. Healthcare Careers, Art Classes Headline Continung Studies Info. Session Jan. 18
From visual arts to the healing arts,MCCC's Center for Continuing Studies (CCS) will be offering a variety of classes this spring to help fulfill professional and personal interest goals. CCS will host an Information Session on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Center for individuals interested in exploring career options in healthcare, high-tech fields, and many other areas, as well as personal interest courses. Jen Davis' 'Eleven Years' Opens at JKC Gallery Jan. 25; Artist Talk Jan. 31
Issues of body image and beauty are front and center in "Eleven Years," an exhibit by internationally recognized photographer Jen Davisit that will be displayed at the James Kerney Campus Gallery (JKCG) from Jan. 25-Feb. 22. Twenty-eight photos from her 2014 book will be featured. All are invited to an opening reception and artist's talk on Jan. 31, 5-8 p.m. Read more about the show here.

Nursing Program Confers Degrees to 26 Grads; First Honor Society Students Inducted
It was a night of cheers and tears as the Nursing Program held a Pinning Ceremony for the 26 graduates of the Winter Class of 2018. This was the second cohort of students to follow a revised, concept-based curriculum adopted in the fall of 2015. The ceremony included the induction of the seven Nursing students into MCCC's newly formed Epsilon Rho Chapter of the Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor Society in recognition of academic excellence. Former West Windsor-Plainsboro Orchestra Director Launches New MCCC Performance Group
Music students now have another option for group performance with the addition of the MCCC Orchestra this fall, under the direction of veteran Mercer County music educator Jean Mauro. The MCCC Orchestra performed its debut concert in December. Nearly 100 community residents attended the performance. Read more here.

Mercer Baseball Ranked Third Nationally in Pre-Season Poll
Winter may still be upon us, but eyes are already turning to the Mercer baseball team's prospects for the upcoming season. The Vikings have been ranked no. 3 nationally among Division II schools in a pre-season poll by Collegiate Baseball News. Kankakee (Ill.) Community College, which defeated Mercer in the World Series championship game, is ranked first. Read more here.

Alum Nick Donnoli Puts Skills to Work as Multimedia Specialist at Princeton
Nick Donnoli ('08, A.A.S., Television) says the television production skills he learned at MCCC -- and the professors who tauight him -- were the start of his path to a job as a mutlimedia specialist at Princeton University, as the owner of his own business, and as the recipient of a Master’s of Education in Learning Design and Technology from Purdue University. Fine Arts Alum Thomas Kelly Lands on Front Cover of US 1 Newspaper
Thomas Kelly ('97, A.F.A.) continues to be a prolific painter whose works are in more than 250 public and private collections. As part of coverage for his upcoming book, "One Hundred Rules for the Aspriring Painter," Kelly's work was featured on the front cover of US 1 newspaper on Jan. 3, with a book preview by Dan Aubrey included inside. Highlights of Jan. 11 College Assembly
There was a lot of information covered at yesterday's College Assembly, including the announcement of faculty and staff accomplishments, and the introduction of new employees. President Wang's PowerPoint presentation emphasized the progress the college has made in key areas related to the Strategic Plan. See the presentation here.

Call for College Catalog Updates - Due Feb. 2
The 2018-19 College Catalog is now in production, with content review and updates being solicited college-wide. Anyone with updates to contribute should contact the point person (dean, director, supervisor, coordinator, etc.) for the area involved. That person likely received notification this week for submitting any revisions for their area. For further assistance, contact Brad Kent in Publications at ext. 3772 or kentb@mccc.edu.

Jan. 21: Camps Open House. Families are invited to a Summer Camps Open House from noon to 3 p.m. in the Student Center on the West Windsor Campus. (Snow date: Sunday, Jan. 28.) Directors will be on hand to provide overviews of camp programs and answer questions about scheduling, staffing and pricing. More here.

Through Feb. 24: Works by Visual Arts Professor Lucas Kelly are part of a show at The Curator Gallery, 520 West 23rd Street in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. The show, "Louder Than Bombs," is runs through Saturday, Feb. 24. See the exhibition website here.
