West Windsor, N.J. – Three Mercer County Community College (MCCC) success coaches recently participated in a conference hosted by the New Jersey chapter of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). The conference was held at Rowan College at Burlington County.

The presentation by MCCC’s Victoria Onori Bowman, Nichol Killian, and Jehan Mohamed was entitled "Success Coaching: A Collaborative Partnership.”

The three described how coaches at MCCC are using transformative, intrusive, and holistic advising techniques to provide students with the tools and resources they need.

“Our goal is to see students succeed academically, persist despite obstacles, and complete their end goals,” Bowman said. “We believe that this can only be accomplished through close collaboration with students, faculty advisors and the entire college community.”

The coaches report that the session was well attended and well received by advisors and educators from community colleges and universities throughout the tri-state area and beyond.

In their role as student success coaches, Bowman, Killian, and Mohamed serve students, faculty, and staff in the college's three main divisions (Liberal Arts, Business and STEM, and Health Professions). They are part of the Center for Retention and Completion; Division of Innovation, Online Education, and Student Success (IOESS).
