Blossom This Spring with Professional and Personal Interest Courses at MCCC’s Center for Continuing Studies

1/11/19

CCS courses in the Allied Health professions continue to be popular options for study and employment.

West Windsor, N.J. – The Center for Continuing Studies (CCS) at Mercer County Community College (MCCC) has developed a schedule for Spring 2019 that offers something for everyone – whether that’s courses leading to a professional certification for career development and advancement, or enrichment classes for personal interest.

Classes are held on the West Windsor Campus at 1200 Old Trenton Road and the James Kerney Campus in Trenton at 102 N. Broad Street. A wide variety of classes are also offered online.

Says CCS Director Leah Pontani, “This year we have launched new programs and are offering redesigned versions of others. We have pursued some really exciting and innovative programs that bring our community offerings to a new level.”

In an exciting partnership with Amazon that expands IT professionals’ career options, the center will launch Amazon Web Services (AWS) Academy this spring. The first course is AWS Cloud Foundations, a 20-hour course offered on five Saturdays from April 27 to June 1. This overview, which includes core services, security, architecture, pricing and support, will be followed by AWS Cloud Computing Architecture.

CCS offers a fast track to professional-level skills in graphic design. Participants will complete the program with a portfolio and be prepared to take Adobe certification exams. Courses can be taken along two certificate tracks: Web Design and Print and Publishing Design. Spring courses for both tracks include Foundations, Color Theory, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. (Adobe courses are taught by Adobe Certified Instructors.) Other courses include Essentials of HTML & CSS, Adobe InDesign, Dreamweaver, and WordPress.  All courses may be taken individually or as part of the certificate program.

Supply Chain Management is one of the fastest growing disciplines worldwide. CCS has joined with the Association for Supply Chain Management and OFI Enterprises to offer two certifications: Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSPS) and Certification in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTS). A third area of specialization is APICS’ Principles of Operation Management, a five-module foundation in the field that starts with Principles of Inventory Management and Control, and Principles of Distribution and Logistics.

Realtors, landscapers, land surveyors and many others are increasingly using drones to enhance their services. In conjunction with ABJ Drones, CCS is the place to take off this spring with Introduction to Unmanned Aircraft Systems, the FAA Part 109 Prep course that prepares participants for the exam. Current drone pilots can grow their skills with UAS Surveying, UAS Thermography, UAS Photography, and UAS Videography.

The center’s courses in the healthcare sector continue to grow as participants seek employment and promotions in high demand fields. Spring programs include Certified Home Health Aide, Phlebotomy Technician, EKG Cardiac Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Patient Care Technician, Medical Billing and Coding, and Medical Billing Specialist.

This spring’s personal interest courses include art, photography, floral design, children’s story writing and many more.

Classes vary in duration and start at varying points throughout the semester. More information, including starting dates and times for all courses, is available by visiting www.mccc.edu/ccs or calling 609-570-3311. To view the spring brochure online, click here.
