West Windsor, N.J. – Whether you are simply seeking a new hobby – or major growth in your career – MCCC’ Center for Continuing Studies (CCS) at Mercer County Community College (MCCC) offers year-round opportunities for lifelong learning. Most courses are taught in the evenings or on Saturdays to accommodate working adults.

CCS has announced its courses for fall on both its West Windsor and James Kerney campuses.  In addition to career courses in Information Technology, Education, Business and Management, Construction/ UCC, Engineering/NICET and more, CCS provides numerous pathways to careers in the allied health professions sector, where the demand for trained personnel remains extremely strong. Among the programs are: Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), a 90-hour course approved by the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services; Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) for those who seek to add to their CNA certification; Phlebotomy I (90 hours of lecture/classroom) and Phlebotomy II Externship (40 hours); EKG Cardiac Technician, a general course including test preparation; Patient Care Technician; and Pharmacy Technician Certification prep program.

CCS will also offer multiple specialized certificates on the administrative side of health care. In the area of Medical Billing and Coding, courses range from Introduction to Medical Administration in Billing and Coding to Electronic Health Records Specialist, Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Billing Specialist, and Medical Coding Specialist.

For drone pilots looking to expand their skill set MCCC offers the following new courses: UAS Surveying (Aug. 23 to Nov. 15); UAS Thermography (Aug. 24 to Nov. 16); UAS Photography (Aug. 30 to Nov. 29); and UAS Videography (Aug. 30 to Nov. 30).

The Veterinary Assistant Certificate Program will begin again in September. Approved by the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America, this eight-month program is taught in five modules, beginning with “Introduction to the Veterinary Profession” Sept. 4 to Oct. 11. Three additional modules follow: Nursing Skills - Part I, Nursing Skills - Part II, and Laboratory Skills, which are all taught on the college’s West Windsor campus. The fifth module is an externship at an area veterinary clinic. After completing the program, students will be prepared for the national certification examination.

Starting September, yoga classes taught by instructors from Honor Yoga Foundation and Belly Dancing classes are coming to Trenton. Belly dancing classes will also be offered. These after-work fitness and wellness classes at the James Kerney Campus are for area residents, college and state employees, and others who may need to unwind at the end of the day. Both classes will take place in the newly refurbished Trenton Hall studio at 137 North Broad Street.

CCS is the community’s resource for a wide variety of personal interest courses, along with numerous classes that start online monthly. More information on the full range of courses is available here or by calling (609) 570-3311.
