MCCC Commemorates 9/11 at Remembrance Ceremony on Quad Sept. 11, 11 a.m.
MCCC and the County of Mercer invite students, faculty and staff, as well as community members, to attend the 16th anniversary ceremony in remembrance of September 11, 2001. The event is set for Monday, Sept. 11, 11 a.m., on the West Windsor Campus Quad. (In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in the Student Center.) Guest speaker is Mercer County Sheriff John A. “Jack” Kemler. Details here.

Yoga, Zumba to Start Week Next Week
The Student Life and Leadership Department invites everyone to stay in shape this fall with yoga and Zumba classes. The fall schedule includes Monday evening yoga from Sept. 11 to Dec. 11 in PE225, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m; Wednesday lunchtime yoga from Sept. 13 to Dec. 13 in the gym, noon to 1 p.m.; and Tuesday Zumba from Sept. 12 to Dec. 12, in the gym from noon to 1 p.m. Note that there will be no classes during Thanksgiving week. Holocaust Center Hosts Guest Speaker Sept. 12
The Holocaust-Genocide Resource Center will host guest speaker Margaret Bar-Akiva, who will deliver a lecture entitled "The Boghossian Family and the Armenian Genocide," at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 12. See the full schedule of events here.

Club Day Is Sept. 14
Encourage your students to get involved! The Student Life and Leadership Department and student leaders host Club Day and Fall Festival on Thursday, Sept. 14, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Quad. Student Life sponsors many clubs and organizations that will be represented at Club Day. There will also be smoothies with Maui Wowi and candy apples with CC Productions! AAWCC to Host Welcome Back Ice Cream Social Sept. 15
Join members of MCCC's chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) on Friday, Sept. 15 for a "Welcome Back Ice Cream Social." The event takes place in the Faculty/Staff Dining Room, 2 to 4 p.m. All faculty, staff and students are invited. Info Session for 2018 Study Tours Sept. 19
MCCC’s Center for Global Opportunities (GO!) is organizing three Study Tours this year. Destinations include Spain from May 19 to June 2 (Language and Culture); Disney, Orlando, from May 21 to 24 (Leadership Adventure); and Costa Rica from June 2 to 9 (Global Health Service). Med Lab Tech Students to Assist in Sept. 20 Blood Drive; Donors Needed
Sixteen Medical Lab Technology students will take a lead roles in recruiting donors, distributing the medication deferral list, and staffing the refreshment table during a Fall Blood Drive on Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Center on the West Windsor Campus. College-Wide Hurricane Harvey Relief Effort Under Way
Please join your community college in helping another! Based upon needs and our desire to have a direct and immediate impact, MCCC is raising funds to aid the victims at Lone Star College in Houston who were heavily impacted by Hurricane Harvey and are just now returning to modified operations this week. Donors can give on campus or online. See details here.

MCCC Travelers Learn About Culture and Cuisine in Southern Spain
In May, 11 MCCC travelers -- including Associate Professor of Spanish Daniel D’Arpa -- made the most of a study tour to Grenada, Spain, with an itinerary that included intensive daily classes at a private language school, a cooking class, a visit to ancient city of Alhambra, a live Flamenco dance show, a Tapas tour, and an excursion to Cordoba. Tennis Coach Vecchiolla Named Tennis Coaches Association President
Marc Vecchiolla, head coach for men’s and women’s’ tennis at MCCC, was recently appointed president of the Region 19 Tennis Coaches Association. In his new role, Vecchiolla will work to promote and grow team tennis at the community college level in the region and serve as the region’s representative nationally. Read more here.

Men's Soccer Player Adir Versano Named GSAC Player of the Week
For the second time in as many weeks, a player from the MCCC men's soccer team has been singled out for honors. Following a week in which the Vikings dominated against all three of their opponents, team co-captain Adir Versano has been named Garden State Athletic Conference Division I Men's Soccer Player of the Week. New MyMercer App. Students now have access to a mobile app that provides anytime, anywhere access to helpful college information as well as features and services linked to their student account. Self-services include course browsing, class registration, academic advisement and planning, payments, and applying for graduation. They can check on tuition and fees status, explore and monitor financial aid, view class schedules, grades, and transcripts, and read MCCC news. There are also links to Facebook and Twitter, campus maps, directories, and the Student Handbook. More here.

2017-18 Catalogs Have Arrived. A limited quantity of the 2017-18 college catalog was delivered this week to key areas at both campuses. For restocking, contact Francis Paixao in Publications at ext. 3731. Please note that this year’s supply is very limited (just 500 printed), so please distribute minimally with discretion! Whenever possible, students should be directed to the most recent catalog editions online here.

New College Logo. Now that the 50th Anniversary year is over, the college has retired the special logo designed for that year. The new logo in several formats and sizes can be downloaded from M-Link here, along with templates for letterhead, faxes and memos. For questions about logo uses, contact Senior Graphic Designer Francis Paixao at paixaof@mccc.edu.
