Award-winning photographer Aubrey J. Kauffman presents a solo exhibit "It's Not About the Game" at the the JKC Gallery Sept. 5 to 29. All are invited to the opening reception and artist talk on Sept. 6, with the talk to begin at 5:30 p.m. Read more about it here.

Holocaust Center Announces Fall Schedule, Starting with Roundtable Sept. 7
The Holocaust-Genocide Resource Center, under the direction of Professor Craig Coenen, kicks off its fall programming with a student roundtable discussion entitled "Confederate Monuments and Civil Rights" Thursday, Sept. 7 starting at noon LB200. See the full schedule of events here.

First of MCCC Hurricane Relief Efforts Underway in Athletics Dept.; Donations Needed by Sept. 8
Following a request from the University of Houston, athletic departments across the country are responding to the great need in Houston and its surrounding communities. They are particularly looking for shirts, shoes and toiletries. The MCCC Atheltics Department will accept donations until next Friday, Sept. 8. See the flyer here. More plans are in the works for Harvey relief efforts by the college. Stay tuned.

MCCC Commemorates 9/11 at Remembrance Ceremony on Quad Sept. 11, 11 a.m.
MCCC and the County of Mercer invite students, faculty and staff, as well as community members, to attend the 16th anniversary ceremony in remembrance of September 11, 2001. The event is set for Monday, Sept. 11, 11 a.m., on the West Windsor Campus Quad. (In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in the Student Center.) Guest speaker is Mercer County Sheriff John A. “Jack” Kemler. Details here.

Yoga, Zumba to Start Week of Sept. 11
The Student Life and Leadership Department invites everyone to stay in shape this fall with yoga and Zumba classes. The fall schedule includes Monday evening yoga from Sept. 11 to Dec. 11 in PE225, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m; Wednesday lunchtime yoga from Sept. 13 to Dec. 13 in the gym, noon to 1 p.m.; and Tuesday Zumba from Sept. 12 to Dec. 12, in the gym from noon to 1 p.m. Note that there will be no classes during Thanksgiving week. Club Day Is Sept. 14
Encourage your students to get involved! The Student Life and Leadership Department and student leaders host Club Day and Fall Festival on Thursday, Sept. 14, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Quad. Student Life sponsors many clubs and organizations that will be represented at Club Day. There will also be sSmoothies with Maui Wowi and candy apples with CC Productions! AAWCC Ice Cream to Host Welcome Back Ice Cream Social Sept. 15
Join members of MCCC's chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) on Friday, Sept. 15 for a "Welcome Back Ice Cream Social." The event takes place in the Faculty/Staff Dining Room, 2 to 4 p.m. All faculty, staff and students are invited. Global Opportunity Center to Host Faculty Conference Nov. 10
MCCC's Office of Global Opportunities (GO!) will host a conference, “Student Success in the Global Marketplace: Preparing Today’s College Students for Global Participation,” on Friday, Nov. 10, 8 a.m to 2 p.m., in the MCCC Conference Center. Join regional higher education professional staff, faculty, deans, provosts, vice presidents, study abroad coordinators, international education directors, advisors, and office managers to discuss approaches to preparing college students for global participation. Student Leaders Make Anti-Bullying Pledge, Urge MCCC Community to Join In
Student Government leaders and the MCCC Student Life and Leadership Department are making anti-bullying a key priority this semester with participation in the “Day 1” program, an anti-bullying initiative presented in conjunction with the Tyler Clementi Foundation. All are urged to sign the banner during the month of September. Read more here.

CCS Floral Design Student Takes Her Skills to Hawaii; Fall Workshops Start Sept. 5
Danielle Kwami had a great experience this summer as she completed the "Floral Design" certificate program offered through MCCC's Center for Continuing Studies. The accelerated program included a series of workshops taught by Deborah Moyer. Kwami presented her portfolio just one day before boarding a flight to Hawaii, where she plans to put her skills to use in a florist shop. More here.

MCCC Honored by NJBIA for Redevelopment Projects at JKC
MCCC was one of 14 New Jersey organizations to receive a Good Neighbor Award from New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA) during a July ceremony. The awards program recognizes contributions to economic development and job creation in the state. MCCC was honored for recent construction projects on the college’s James Kerney Campus. Gallery Hosts Faculty Show Reception; See Photos on Facebook
The Gallery at MCCC hosted an opening reception for the 2017 Visual Arts Faculty Exhibit on Aug. 30. Visitors were delighted with the range of media on display, including Michael Welliver's "bottomless" stoneware pieces and 112 makeup cloths by Kerri O'Neill. Check out the show through Sept. 28. Men's Soccer Has Strong Start; Yamaguchi Named GSAC Player of the Week
The men's soccer team had plenty of reasons to celebrate -- at least 5! -- as they won their home opener 5-0 against Bergen CC on Aug. 30. See photos on Facebook here. Following last weekend's road trip to Rochester, midfielder Eiichi Yamaguchi was named the Garden State Athletic Association's Player of the Week. More here. The men are 3-0 on the season and next play at home this Saturday at noon against Massasoit. The women's team is currently 1-1 on the season and will play Harford at home Wednesday, Sept. 6, starting at 5 p.m.

New MyMercer App. Students now have access to a mobile app that provides anytime, anywhere access to helpful college information as well as features and services linked to their student account. Self-services include course browsing, class registration, academic advisement and planning, payments, and applying for graduation. They can check on tuition and fees status, explore and monitor financial aid, view class schedules, grades, and transcripts, and read MCCC news. There are also links to Facebook and Twitter, campus maps, directories, and the Student Handbook. More here.

2017-18 Catalogs Have Arrived. A limited quantity of the 2017-18 college catalog was delivered this week to key areas at both campuses. For restocking, contact Francis Paixao in Publications at ext. 3731. Please note that this year’s supply is very limited (just 500 printed), so please distribute minimally with discretion! Whenever possible, students should be directed to the most recent catalog editions online here.

New College Logo. Now that the 50th Anniversary year is over, the college has retired the special logo designed for that year. The new logo in several formats and sizes can be downloaded from M-Link here, along with templates for letterhead, faxes and memos. For questions about logo uses, contact Senior Graphic Designer Francis Paixao at paixaof@mccc.edu.
