Ribbon Cutting for Trenton Hall Annex is April 12
MCCC will be moving forward in Trenton with a celebration on Wednesday, April 12 featuring a ribbon cutting for the new Trenton Hall Annex. The community is invited to the event, which begins at 11:30 a.m. with the "Moving Forward Bus Tour." The ribbon cutting is at 12:30 p.m. Transportation will be provided for West Windsor Camus faculty and staff who would like to attend, with a bus departing from the Kelsey Theatre circle at noon and returning from JKC at 1:30 p.m. Please email Patti Richards at richardp@mccc.edu to reserve your ride by noon on Tuesday, April 11. The schedule also includes the presentation of a painting and artist's talk by MCCC Professor Emeritus Mel Leipzig, a tour of Trenton Hall, and an opening reception for the photography exhibit "Schools for the Colored" and artist's talk with Wendel White at the JKC Gallery. A Traditional Japanese Harp in Modern Day Music is Lecture Topic April 12
MCCC alumnus Kento Iwasaki (’09 Liberal Arts/Music), an accomplished composer and musician, will deliver his lecture “The Koto: A Traditional Japanese Instrument in Present Day” as part of MCCC’s Distinguished Lecture Series at noon on Wednesday, April 12, in CM109. Part lecture and part performance, Iwasaki will demonstrate how an ancient musical instrument is still relevant in the era of jazz, hip hop and rock. Read more here.

Visual Arts Student Exhibition April 10 to May 4; Opening Reception April 12
Visual Arts students at MCCC are ready to display their rich and varied talents as the Gallery at Mercer presents the final show of its 2016-17 season. The annual “Visual Arts Student Exhibition” runs from Monday, April 10 to Thursday, May 4. The community is invited to an Opening Reception on Wednesday, April 12, 5 to 7 p.m. Read more here.

Theatre/Dance Program to Present 'Blood Wedding’ April 21-30
The Academic Theatre and Dance program at MCCC will combine storytelling, dance and music in the spell-binding production “Blood Wedding.” Wildly popular in its day and still performed regularly in Latin countries, this Spanish classic comes to Kelsey Theatre Fridays, April 21 and 28 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, April 22 and 29 at 8 p.m., and Sundays, April 23 and 30 at 2 p.m. Read more here.

West Windsor Campus Spring Day April 25
Join Student Life and Leadership and the Student Government Association for Spring Day 2017, “MCCC Passport to the World,” April 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Quad and Cafeteria. The MCCC Hospitality Club will provide cultural food from around the world. The celebration also includes outdoor activities, DJ music, and student clubs and organizations. Questions? AAWCC Day of Service April 28
The MCCC chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges will be preparing utensil “roll ups” -- wrapping plastic knives, forks and spoons in a napkin -- for use by the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen. Their goal is to complete 5,000 in one day! To volunteer for the project, please sign up here for a specific time and send the form in no later than Wednesday, April 19. Questions? HRIM Presents 'En Fleurs' Student Restaurant For Lunch
HRIM presents En Fleurs student restaurant! Lunch tickets on sale for Wednesday April 12 and April 19. Seating is from 11:45 - 12:30 p.m. in ES 111. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Buy online, at the Kelsey Theater Box Office, or at the Bursar's Office. Tickets are $10 for students, faculty and staff and $12 for guests. Please note that there is an additional charge for tickets purchased online or through the Kelsey Box Office. Please be patient and allow a full hour for your dining experience. Tables of six or fewer; no refunds. Tickets only valid for a specific date. For the menu, click here. Baseball, Softball Teams Build on Strong Starts
Mercer's baseball and softball teams are both off to strong starts in the 2017 season, with the baseball team currently ranked sixth in the nation with a 24-8 record. Meanwhile, the softball team boasts a 20-4 record and has outscored opponents 75-24 over the last 10 games. See Facebook photos of the baseball team in action against Cumberland here. Softball Alum Making Her Mark in North Atlantic Conference
Former Mercer softball standout Brianna Castellano has been making her presence known in New England, having recently been named the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week. Castellano, currently a student at New England College, is off to a hot start through the team’s first 12 games, hitting .513, going 20 for 39 with 10 RBI and scoring seven runs. Read more here.

Through May 4: 'Schools for the Colored' Exhibit at JKC Gallery. The Gallery at JKC presents "Schools for the Colored" by renowned photographer Wendel White. An Opening Reception and Artist's Talk takes place Wednesday, April 12, coinciding with the ribbon cutting at the Trenton Hall Annex earlier in the day. White's talk will begin at 5:45 p.m. Read more about the exhibit here.

Through April 19: Lunch 'n Learn Professional Development Series. Presented by the Center for Teaching and Learning. Upcoming sessions include Grade Center Open Sessions; Refreshing Your Online Course; Excel Training; and more. Sessions will be held from noon to 1 p.m. For a list of sessions by month, click here. Through April 20: 'Penny Wars.' The LEAD Program and SGA are hosting "Penny Wars IV: Return of the Silver" through April 20 to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Stop by SC111 to pick up a jar and start collecting coins of all denominations. Participants can be individuals, a small group (2-9 people), or a large group (10+ people). Through April 28: MCCC Night at Trenton Thunder.The Student Government Association and Student Life and Leadership are sponsoring an MCCC night at the Trenton Thunder on Friday, April 28 at Arm & Hammer Park, 1 Thunder Road, in Trenton. Game time is 7 p.m. Tickets are $5, and can be purchsed at the Student Life and Leadership Office, SC111. See the flyer here.

Through May 4: Student Restaurants Serve Dinner. Dinner tickets for Latitude 40 - An International Cafe are on sale for Wednesdays, April 12, April 19, April 26, and May 3. Tickets are also available for the Viking Cafe, serving dinner on Thursdays on April 13, 20, 27 and May 4. Tickets must be purchased in advance either in person at the Bursar's Office, at the Kelsey Theatre Box Office, or online through the Kelsey Theatre portal. To purchase tickets online, click here for Latitude 40 tickets and here for the Viking Cafe. (Tickets are subject to a small service charge.)
