Final Weekend for Theatre/Dance Program's 'Blood Wedding’
The Academic Theatre and Dance program at MCCC combines storytelling, dance and music in the spell-binding production “Blood Wedding.” Wildly popular in its day and still performed regularly in Latin countries, students and community actors will perform this Spanish classic tonight and tomorrow night at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Read more here.

MCCC Democrats Club to Host Discussion for Millennials' Issues May 2
On Tuesday, May 2, the MCCC Democrats Club will co-host a panel discussion with the West Windsor Democratic Club. The conversation will focus on the political issues of concern to millennials. Club President Dan Hurley and two other panelists will lead the discussion. The event takes place from 7 to 8:45 p.m. in SC104 in the Student Center. All are welcome to attend. See flyer here.

JKC Celebrates Academic Achievement May 2
All are invited to the James Kerney Campus' 29th annual "Celebration of Academic Achievement" on Tuesday, May 2, starting at 6 p.m. In addition to those who are graduating with their associate degrees, students who will be recognized include those enrolled in ESL, High School Equivalency, and Career Training Institute programs. The event takes place at the Trenton War Memorial, George Washington Ballroom.

Chorus, Jazz Band Concerts May 2 and 3
Spring is a time of wonder and baby chicks – make that Stevie Wonder and Chick Corea! Music lovers will have both traditional and contemporary options with two free concerts by MCCC chorus and jazz students. The MCCC Chorus will present its spring concert on Tuesday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m., and the MCCC Jazz Band will perform on Wednesday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. Both performances take place in Kelsey Theatre. Aqua Massage and Therapy Dogs to Help Ease Students' Exam Stress May 4 and 9
Let your students know that the college is doing its part to help ease their stress as they prepare for end-of-semester exams and presentations. The Student Life and Leadership office will offer aqua massages on Thursday, May 4 in the Student Center hallway from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Tuesday, May 9, MCCC's Counseling and Community Networks office has invited therapy dogs to the West Windsor Campus quad from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There's nothing like a wet nose kiss from a furry friend!

Students to Unveil Latest Creations in Fashion and Arts Showcase May 5
On Friday, May 5, Fashion/Apparel Design and Fashion Merchandising students will present “Fashion, Arts & More,” a showcase of their work from the 2016-17 academic year. The event starts at 6 p.m. in the newly-opened fourth floor exhibit space at Trenton Hall on MCCC’s James Kerney Campus. Read more here.

Mercer Dance Ensemble Presents 'Roots to Wings' Concert May 6 and 7
The Mercer Dance Ensemble presents “Roots to Wings: MDE in Concert” Saturday, May 6 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 7 at 2 p.m. at Kelsey Theatre. The concert includes 15 dances ranging from modern styles to contemporary ballet, tap, ballroom dancing, theater art and improvisation. Read more here.

'Boy From Oz' Sings His Way Into Kelsey Theatre May12 to 21
The life and music of the incomparable Peter Allen comes to the Kelsey Theatre stage in "The Boy from Oz" May 12 to 21. Presented by Forte Dramatic Productions and Pierrot Productions, the show features Andrew Ruggieri in the lead role and colorful characters from Allen's life, plus show-stopping dance and vocal numbers. College VOICE Earns Nine Awards for Journalistic Excellence
MCCC's College VOICE student newspaper has been recognized with nine awards for excellence. Staffers had the chance to attend the annual College Media Association convention in New York City in March, which provides educational opportunities for college media staffs and their advisers. More here.

Four Students Earn Scholarships from NJCPA Society
Four MCCC students were the recipients of scholarship funding from the NJ Certified Public Accountants Society at an awards ceremony on April 25. The NJCPA Scholarship Fund is one of the largest professional scholarship programs in the state. Read more here.

Athletics Director John Simone Honored for NJCAA Service
In his 20 years at Mercer, Athletics Director John Simone has overseen a department that does its best to serve student athletes on multiple levels, guiding their athletic and academic progress, and helping them shape their career goals. Simone has also taken on leadership roles for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and was recently recognized for his service. Congrats to John! Read more here.

MCCC Featured in NJ Secretary of Higher Education Newsletter
In the latest issue of the newsletter published by the Office of the NJ Secretary of Higher Education, MCCC was featured in three articles: the ribbon cutting for the Trenton Hall Annex, the Science Learning Center at the West Windsor Campus, and the Horticulture program's spectacular exhibit at the Philadelphia Flower Show. Staff Recognized at Administrative Professionals Day
MCCC administrative professionals enjoyed time together at the Conference Center on Wednesday as the college recognized them for their service with breakfast and a certificate presentation. Tammy Luciano, who works in Veterans Services, was selected as the Administrative Professional of the Year. See a photo of Tammy receiving her award here.

Faculty and Staff Bring Their Kids to Work and Play at MCCC!
Dozens of MCCC employees and their children met at the Conference Center on Thursday to launch "Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day" with breakfast and inspirational words from MCCC President Dr. Jianping Wang, Prof. Alvyn Haywood, and Mercer alumnus Brad Butler. Multiple activities were offered throughout the day on both campuses, including stage make-up at Kelsey Theatre, science, nursing and 3-D printing demos, a STEM presentation, recreational games, and more. Congrats to MCCC Softball Going Into Regional Tournament
Congrats to five softball players who earned All-Region 19 Honors, just released today. Infielder Tori Carpenter, catcher Laura Gould, pitcher Kaley Wise and utility player Alisha Patel were all named to the All-Region First Team and infielder Sophia Beretski was named to the All-Region Second Team. Mercer softball enters the Region 19 playoffs as the #3 seed this weekend. On Saturday, the Vikings open play vs. #2 Del Tech Owens at noon at the County College of Morris in a double elimination tournament. If the Vikings win, they play the winner of #1 Morris vs. #4 Lackawanna at 2 p.m. If they lose, they will play the loser of that game at 4 p.m. in an elimination game. Good luck, Vikings!!
