Advanced Manufacturing Ribbon Cutting Today
MCCC will cut the ribbon on the new Advanced Manufacturing Lab and showcase other high-tech programs today from noon to 1:30 p.m. The ceremony will take place in the new lab, an annex to the Engineering Science Building on the West Windsor Campus. The college's Drone Program, Domain Tech@Mercer, and Television Program's mobile broadcast unit will also be featured at the event. All are invited. Read more here. 'Sleuth' Opens Tonight at Kelsey Theatre
Excitement and suspense await as the award-winning Maurer Productions OnStage (MPO) presents Anthony Shaffer’s “Sleuth” at Kelsey Theatre tonight through Oct. 15. A reception with the cast and crew follows tonight's performance. Read more here.

‘Pinocchio’ Comes to Kelsey Theatre for Two Shows Saturday
What does it take to be a real boy? Youngsters will get the answers in the classic tale of “Pinocchio,” coming to Kelsey Theatre. The award-winning traveling theater company Virginia Rep On Tour presents this enchanting musical for two shows only as part of the Kelsey Kids Series on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Read more here.

JKC Gallery Hosts Reception for Turner's 'Arkansas Delta' Oct. 12
Raised in the Arkansas Delta, photographer Aaron Turner presents an exhibit capturing the region and its history from an insider's perspective. "Arkansas Delta" runs through Wednesday, Nov. 4. A community reception and artist talk are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 12, 5 to 8 p.m., with Turner to speak at 5:30 p.m. More here.

Mercer Alumnus, Actor Alejandro Hernandez, to Speak at MCCC Oct. 13
No professional actor’s journey is exactly the same, but there are many common challenges and pitfalls for those starting out in this fiercely competitive field. Jersey City-based actor Alejandro Hernandez, a 2008 alumnus of MCCC who has landed a featured role in the upcoming CBS crime drama Instinct, will return to the college on Friday evening, Oct. 13, to share some of what he’s learned in the past decade as his acting career has taken off. WWC Gallery Presents Works by Michael Scoggins Oct. 16 to Nov. 30
“#RealNews," works by Michael Scoggins, will be featured at The Gallery at Mercer on the West Windsor Campus. This solo exhibition by the acclaimed New York City-based artist opens Monday, Oct. 16 and runs through Thursday, Nov. 30. The community is invited to an artist talk on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at noon in CM109, followed by an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. More here.

Mental Health Resource Fair Oct. 18
Counseling and Community Networks invites the college community to the Third Annual Mental Wellness Resource Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first floor of the Student Center. Learn about the resources on campus, and from other Mercer County providers. More than 20 community agencies will be represented. "In Their Shoes" will be back this year in the Quad. Therapy dogs will also be on the Quad to help beat semester stress! See the flyer here.

AAWCC Day of Service for Breast Cancer Awareness Oct. 20
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Mercer’s Chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) is organizing a day of service on Friday, Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon in the West Windsor Campus Cafeteria. Show up, wear pink and help put together “Chemo Care” bags that will be donated to the Breast Cancer Resource Center of Princeton’s YWCA. Leading up to the day of service, AAWCC is requesting donations for the care bags and will have drop-off coordinators located throughout campus. 'Upstanders' Banner Stands as Declaration Against Bullying
Mercer students have made their stand against bullying. On Oct. 3, student leaders held a ceremony as they hung their “Upstanders to Bullying” banner in the Student Center. In the five weeks since the start of the semester, the Day 1 anti-bullying banner was signed by approximately 300 students, faculty and staff. Read more here. See Mercer's Day 1 video here.

Now Recruiting For MCCC 'Race for the Cure' Team
MCCC is seeking members for its Vikings in Pink - Race for the Cure team, which will participate in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, to take place Sunday, Nov. 5. Both campuses will be involved in fundraising and participation on race day to raise funds for breast cancer research. Every Thursday in October from noon to 1 p.m. at both campuses, you can visit the Vikings in Pink registration table, where those interested in participating can sign up. A portion of MCCC’s donations will be used to fund a Last Semester @ MCCC Scholarship for a student in the Health Professions. Fine Arts Prof. Kelly Invites College Community to Studio Tour Oct. 8
Professor of Fine Arts Lucas Kelly invites MCCC staffers to check out his new studio in Philadelphia. He will host Open Tours this Sunday, Oct. 8, from noon to 6 p.m. Kelly’s studio is located at 3237 Amber Street, Unit 3-4-D, Philadelphia, Pa., 19143. Visitors should take the elevator to 4th floor North. Kelly’s solo exhibition at the Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster continues through Nov. 4. For more information, click here.

Kelsey Theatre Hosting Costume Sale -- Just in Time for Halloween!
Kelsey Theatre is having a costume sale just in time for Halloween! Costumes and accessories will be available for purchase in the Kelsey Theatre lobby on Thursday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A wide variety of items will be available including: wedding dresses, formal gowns, everyday dresses, men's suits, mermaid costumes, animal costumes, Medieval dresses and tunics, flapper dresses, jitterbug components (from the Wizard of Oz), hats (lots of hats!) and more. Former MCCC Soccer Star Dacres Finding Success in USL
Former men’s soccer player Kadeem Dacres is finding success on the pitch at the professional level. Currently he is a forward for FC Cincinnati in the United Soccer League. His team, which is 11-10-9 with just two games left in the regular season, is in sixth place and is likely to advance to the playoffs. Read more here.

Oct. 17: WPU@Mercer Open House. Spread the word to students. William Paterson University will host an Open House at the Conference Center at Mercer from 5-7 p.m. to discuss options for students to complete their bachelor's degree through the WPU@Mercer program. Degrees are available in History, Political Science, English, Psychology, Sociology and Early Childhood Education. Students should RSVP to mercer@wpunj.edu.

Through Dec. 13: Yoga and Zumba Classes in PE Building. The schedule includes Monday evening yoga fthrough Dec. 11 in PE225, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m; Wednesday lunchtime yoga through Dec. 13 in the gym, noon to 1 p.m.; and Tuesday Zumba through Dec. 12, in the gym from noon to 1 p.m. Note that there will be no classes during Thanksgiving week. Through Nov. 4: Prof. Lucas Kelly Featured in Solo Exhibition. Lucas Kelly, MCCC Professor of Visual Arts and Director of The Gallery at Mercer, invites the MCCC community to his solo exhibition, "Last First Dance," at the Center for Contemporary Arts (CCA). CCA is located at 2020 Burnt Mills Road in Bedminster, NJ. See Kelly on the CCA website here.

New MyMercer App. Students now have access to a mobile app that provides anytime, anywhere access to helpful college information as well as features and services linked to their student account. Self-services include course browsing, class registration, academic advisement and planning, payments, and applying for graduation. They can check on tuition and fees status, explore and monitor financial aid, view class schedules, grades, and transcripts, and read MCCC news. There are also links to Facebook and Twitter, campus maps, directories, and the Student Handbook. More here.
