Trenton, N.J. – For the past three years, Wells Fargo has been sharing in the vision of Mercer County Community College (MCCC) by donating scholarship funds for Trenton area high school graduates seeking to attend college. This year, they made that commitment even stronger.

On July 24, two Wells Fargo representatives, Andre Maia, Vice President and District Manager of Greater Princeton, and John Bullock Jr., Manager of the Wells Fargo Branch in Pennington, NJ, participated in a check presentation ceremony in Trenton Hall at the college’s James Kerney Campus (JKC). Their donation in the amount of $15,000 represents a significant increase in philanthropic support for students from Trenton.

Also participating were MCCC President Jianping Wang, Vice President for College Advancement Ed Gwazda, Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations Kay Eaton, and JKC Administrator in Charge and EOF Director Barbara Jefferson.

The funds will provide fifteen $1,000 scholarships for new and continuing students who are graduates of Trenton area high schools.

“We believe in your mission and are inspired by it,” Maia said. “When MCCC succeeds, the whole community, including the business community, is stronger as a result. It is an honor to support your educational goals in Trenton and throughout the county.”

Added Bullock, “Mercer is a shining light here. We appreciate what you are doing.”

MCCC President Jianping Wang expressed her sincere appreciation for the donation. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of investments in education by the business community. “Trenton is our original home. And Mercer is the institution that continues to support education in Trenton – from young teens to adult learners – offering services that range from enrichment programs for young people to credit courses that lead to college degrees. The more funding that is put into education, the more that area residents will be able to contribute to the community.”

Wells Fargo’s support of MCCC also includes participation in the MCCC Golf Classic, which is held in the fall to benefit the Student Athlete Scholarship Fund.
