TRENTON – Thanks to generous donation from Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Mercer County Community College (MCCC) has purchased two-dozen new state-of-the-art microscopes that will provide hands-on experience for more than 200 allied health professions majors at the college’s James Kerney Campus (JKC) in Trenton.
The $16,680 grant to Mercer made possible the purchase of 24 new microscopes and storage cabinets, which will be used for students enrolled in classes required for Nursing, Radiography, Medical Technology, Exercise Science, and Physical Therapy Assistant degrees. The existing microscopes will be moved to MCCC’s West Windsor Campus, where they will be used by non-science majors fulfilling general education requirements.
“We are grateful to Janssen Pharmaceutical Research Foundation for their generosity and commitment to providing educational opportunities for the residents of Trenton,” said MCCC President Dr. Jianping Wang. “By providing state-of-the-art equipment for our students, we are training the next generation of healthcare professionals in an environment that mirrors what they will experience in the workforce. This is indeed an investment in the future.”
