WEST WINDSOR – A one-stop shop for comprehensive computer tech support, manned by college students who are earning and learning, is now open for business on the campus of Mercer County Community College (MCCC).

The Domain Tech Academy@Mercer, a cooperative partnership between MCCC and Cranbury, N.J. based Domain Computer Services, recently opened its doors to the public on the college’s West Windsor Campus as a full-service operation providing computer technical support for home, small business, and commercial customers. Customers can drop off their computers at the Engineering Science Building, Room 134, on MCCC’s West Windsor Campus. On-site support is also available.

“The Domain Tech Academy at Mercer was just too good of an idea for us to pass up,” said Rashaad Bajwa, CEO and president of Domain Computer Services. “Our partnership with MCCC is an innovative, collaborative effort between a local community college looking to ensure their students’ success and a local business providing quality, affordable services within the community. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

The student interns, under the supervision of Domain engineers, provide diagnostic and repair services for personal computers, hourly and contract technical support for businesses, and Smart Home services, which involves the automation of household systems – such as security systems, environmental controls, lighting, and sound systems – and the ability to control them remotely. The Academy is separate from MCCC's IT Department, which continues to provide services for college-owned equipment.

MCCC students are hand-selected by Domain among applicants majoring in an Information Technology field, and receive in-depth, hands-on training and supervision from Domain staff. Students who successfully complete the paid internship program will receive a certificate of accomplishment and will be eligible for full-time employment at the company.

“By relieving students from the need to work at jobs not related to their studies, we enable them the opportunity to study full-time while providing meaningful work experience,” said MCCC President Dr. Jianping Wang. “The goal of the Tech Academy is to enable our students to complete their education on time, to obtain gainful employment upon graduation, and to provide employers with a better trained and ready workforce.”

In addition, Domain is in the process of recruiting MCCC Marketing students for paid sales and marketing positions with the Academy. These students will be in charge of promoting the Academy’s services through websites, social media, e-mail marketing, and printed material.

For information on the services offered at the Domain Tech Academy@Mercer, visit www.domaintechacademy.com, call (609) 664-2200, or email sales@domaintechacademy.com. The office on the MCCC West Windsor Campus, ES134, is open 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
